Windows 7 What Do I Need To Know - madcat - 21.10.2009
Hi there
Just got an email from Amazon telling me Windows 7 is on its way, yay I hope lol
Any way, is there any thing I need to know about Windows 7 regarding IL2 and any thing else that might be useful info?
I did read some where that I have to download a internet browser before installing as the EU version of windows 7 doesn't come with one. Something to do with compensation laws, is this right?

The only trouble I had with windows 7 was when it came to installing hyperlobby. Make sure that when you do it is done in win 95 compatibility mode and when you have connected it to your "il2fb.exe" file you can then change it to XP Service Pack 3 Mode.
Hyperlobby will work fine once this is done

the only thing you have to know is that when a program doesnt work, you try different compatibility modes until it works

AFAIK you will be prompted to choose different browsers, it comes with Internet Explorer 8 but it can be disabled (not uninstalled) from Control panel->Uninstall programs -> Turn Windows features on or off.
If you have IL2 1946 dvd, run a.exe to install it

Which version shall I install, 32 or 64 bit?

Download cpu-z
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Use the installer so you get the right version and then run it form the start menu. It will collect info about your processor and then under the CPU tab look for the instructions column, see if you have any of these AMD64, x86-x64 or EM64T. if you have any of these then your processor is 64 bit.
Then download this and see if your computer has any potential hardware issues with Windows 7.

64bit runs faster but your need more system resources and you might find drivers and programs might not work as I under stand it, but I'm shore there's ways round this?
I got the opposite problem according to that advisor, they don't do and 32bit drive for my sound card that's compatible with windows 7, but they do a 64bit driver that is! Have to look into that to see if that's true.
To every one else thanks for your replys
