This is something I've not heard of on the forum here, nor experienced myself. So on the problem I can't give any advice.

But what i would advise, especially given it has been weeks ago that you first had the problem, is to reinstall the game. You should, ideally, have a clean copy of the game saved somewhere on which to start, but even if you don't, in the long run (and weeks is the long run already) you will have less fuss and aggravation if you install anew.

It sounds daunting but it is not if you take care to save what you need first (skins and missions for instance, install files for mods) and if you follow the install and upgrade steps one by one, as so often described here.

I bought my DVD copy of the game for a miserly 6 euros and that a local outlet. Cheaper than going for a hamburger ...
