some fmb problem for next rextured maps - redko - 02.11.2009

Hi guys.

I have a little problem.

I can't open some maps like Italy_DF or Kyushu maps with the modded version of FMB for retexturing work. When i lunch default FMB...no problem. :???: Strange.

I'm starting the complete texture reorganisation of some maps and it does not work. I would like the same i did for New Okinawa.

Does some one have an idea to what 's the problem ?

Many tanks.

Bye the way....it would be great for modders if we could have a kind of library of modded maps.

If by modded FMB you mean FMB+...it should open any map.
If you mean the full-unlocked FMB for map-makers...then it will notopen maps which have a very large actors.static file.....this will need to be 'cut' into smaller chunks first.

F......k ! ....for each step there is a new problem...God !

thanks fabianfred. I guessed it was something like that as no precise error message appeared. Just no more respons from the game when loading some maps. So no problem for static.ini or path for textures in this the problem would be the same for full-unlocked FMB and classic fmb. little maps make no problem as recently retextured Okinawa, or Wake...

Can I remap with FMB+ or only full-unlocked FMB can do it? I have some already map but only with changed textures. If i want to have the same result for them as i did for Okinawa i really need to completly reorganize the texture structure.

It's the only way to have photorealistics new maps.

Thanks for help fabianfred !

hum....i fear i understand what you mean. Open actors.static with notepad....split into 2-3 files. make the map....remake one actor....right?

Why remap the textures using the map-maker FMB?

Goodness what an incredibly daunting work doing it that way. Surely you didn't remap each texture in the map by hand in the map-maker?

There are other ways that are too long to describe here, but which involve using map_t and/or map_h ...

You can't open the actors file with notepad. It is an encoded file and will show up as gibberish.

To decode the actors file you need to use a tool like Zuti's Actors Management Tool. There is a good tutorial on how to use it. It is a fairly simple tool to use, though you do have to read the tutorial first. Once you understand how to split up an actors with this tool, then no map will withhold its mysteries from you anymore.

But if you wish to only retexture in unlocked FMB, just temporary replace the actors.static with an empty one (backup the original one first).

Then at least you can do your magic, although it will be a surprise how the object match afterwards.. :-?
