Hi guys

Right now I'm having some trouble about installing the new UI 1.2.

I'm still using Vista and XP in a duel boot way, the XP part doesn't have internet access yet Vista does, so I'm using an extternal hard drive to take files one place to another, and obviously, I've got the game on the XP part since I'm usually playing stand-alone.

On to the matter now, I just completely installed IL-2 1946 from scratch, installed the new 4.09m patch and now the UI 1.1, no trouble so far, but when I install the new UI 1.2, then the trouble starts.

And of course, I installed the cleaned up UI 1.1 before installing the UI 1.2.

But now when I try to install the UI 1.2, I'm having this error and I read something like this.

CRC failed in MODS\Sea Hurricane\3do\cockpit\SeaHurricaneMkI\prib_four.tga
Unexpected end of archive

So, what's this about ?? And what can I do to make sure the install is done properly ??

It's already the second time I downloaded the UI 1.2, first time was from Mirror 8, and the second one was from Mirror 2.

There was still the fixes files in the UI 1.2 included in the downloading but I'm not sure of what it's about.

Anyone can help me out about this ??

Your problem is a corrupted file. I myself never got a good download off any of the mirror sites but did get a solid download from the Torrent download site. I don't know if it is still up but you may want to try that. You can get a torrent downloader from FreewareFiles. com. Then look in this thread : (The link is inoperative)

Right now the UI1.1 and UI 1.2 do not work with 4.09M.

4.07m disk install---->4.08m patch--->UI 1.1 --->UI 1.2

I know that feeling as it took me at least two full weeks to get it working.

-1- you have to start from scratch (as you did). Even a "cleaned up" modded version will still have some hidden files somewhere which will interfere with your installation. Uninstall any old version!

-2- you have to make sure that you use clean archives. Any corruption of even a minor file inside of one of the archives and your installation will go on but it won't work at least online!

-3- use Winrar in order to test your downloaded archives (click test and see if the archive is not corrupted) and for the installation.

-4- follow all the steps in the right order: first a clean install of 4.08 - duplicate it and work with the duplicated version - install UI 1.1 - install UI 1.2

-5- run the install.bat file after this if you use Winrar in order to identify those files inside of the MOD folder which need to be modified or deleted after the installation

-6- if you wish to use the 4.09m version, you have two possibilities which work for me:
-a- you install the Warbirds of Prey switcher following the precise instructions on their Website and you will be able to use either 4.09m or 4.09b1m(UI 1.2 version) regarding the 4.09 version
-b- you install the complete HSFX files which allows you to play 4.09m with mods

Otherwise you will have to wait for the integrated 1.2.5 patch which contains material from HSFX as far as I heard...

So, what are the HSFX files about ?? Never heard of them until now. I was hoping to get the 4.09m and the mods playing, so where am I supposed to get the HFSX files ?? :???:

I'm just not really playing this game online, just playing it offline and taking campaigns to campaigns on the career thing, and so far the campaigns you guys did was really something.

if you have room - make a new install of 4.08M and then install 4.09M.
That way you have the new planes you want. That is what i did waiting on the new
installer 1.2.5

Hi Blackjack,

You can have separately 4.09m and 4.09b1m UI1.2 on your computer but not a mixture of both. If you want to play 4.09m with modded files, one solution right now is HSFX until UI 1.2.5 comes out.

I guess it is not against AAA rules anymore to post a reference for HSFX as they will all merge in the future as far as I understood:

4.09 and U.I. work together just fine, but you have to get some bits and pieces, like buttons, from other Mod Activators, such as SAS, and the Russian files.SFS. This is not kosher for online play (the buttons), but if you're just an offline modder, then have at it. There are lots of posts here on the forum about how to go about it.

In fact, you might as well just go to the SAS website and install their Modact for previously modded games, which gives you the 4.09 planes plus all your existing mods.
