Easy steps: IL2 1946 to MODS! - baronbutcher - 12.11.2009

Hi pilots simmers, I am new to all this mods and U installer stuff etc. - and it is confusing! :???: COULD SOMEONE(S) PLEASE EXPLAIN in simple language for us simple folk   the steps of installing IL-2 to allow mods to work with 4.09m? :?:
I have the DVD installed of 1946 (which contains all the il-2 series), installed 4.08 then 4.09 and it works fine. (luv the SM79) I don't want to muck it up installing mods etc. Sad :? Would all the aircraft be flyable? Can I download the mod of cockpits for them and will all my orginal aircraft be left unaltered as in the orginal sim. What I ultimatelly want is IL-2 1946 aircraft and maps + all the aircraft now flyable + a few mods that I will be able to add from time to time. I partically want the TYPHOON and ME410 (Fairey Battle (for canon flodder), Halifax and Whirlwind are interesting) Appreciate any simple layout steps. Thanks Smile

A simple one step install over the IL-2 4.09m patch (until AAA comes out with an equivlant patch) that has all the new planes already included: http://il2ultrapack.net46.net/index.php ... 308.0.html

Be careful for high expectations with Ultrapack - I've installed a copy and in my install of Ultrapack, none of the new planes work (Swordfish, Avia B534 ...) and neither do many of the maps - and the thing is, with Ultrapack there is less user control and oversight over what is wrong and access to the necessary files is harder to do. Ultrapack loads fast, and is standardized to a higher degree which would be good for on-line playing.

But if you can find the energy to learn how to install AAA mods manually, you will ultimately have much more control over what goes into or does not go into your mods additions. And you will be able to put together a game that is highly personalized to your own tastes and preferences.

I do not know about you, but my Swordfish works great. In fact I have even modded some of the older static campaigns out there that used the fillin Swordfish with the real Swordfish model.

Download corrupted UP 18 full.part01 - baronbutcher - 15.11.2009

I down loaded all parts as suggested but the RAR file UP_18_full.part01 is corrupted as when I go to open I get file message corrupted and this :

CRC failed in UP_18_full\fb_hfx3do05.sfs
Unexpected end of archive

Sad :x
I tried a few different places still get the same from this file. What to do now? I can't continue and who knows perhaps the other RAR files are corrupt. Cry :???:
PLEASE HELP! :?: Thanks! Cry

the easiest way to install things is the Unified installer, but it only works with 4.08. I know the feeling of being in over your head with this stuff i was too several times as i had never attempted to mod a game like this. If i were you i would go back and patch to 4.08 then use the unified installers. there are alot of other mods on this site that all install differently but most come with instructions that are possible to follow if read carefully. In my experience most of this stuff is made by armatures in their free time so there are always bugs and problems. when you are installing big packs like this there are often problems but any time it messes up just reinstall and start over, so always back your game up and retain copies of all the mods you have added so when something goes wron its only a couples hours to fix it instead of all day! good luck welcome to AAA and remember all these guys want to help and if you can't figure it out, look it up a guarantee there is always someone else posting on this forum wiht the same problem, chances are its already been solved
