Fixes for MAT - Casey1976 - 13.11.2009

1) go to your IL2 root folder and find the IL2FB.exe
2) make a copy of it, and rename it IL2
3 open MAT and direct it to your IL2 folder...Prog files->Ubi->Il21946

After all that is done, the custom marks will probably not show up. Basically, with the new version of the game/mods/what-have-you...you have to force MAT to load the markings...here's what I did to get it to work:

Open MAT, reset all the marks to default or off. Save the settings. Launch the game through MAT. Then exit the sim.

Next, open MAT again. Change your marks to custom choices. Save the settings. Launch the game through MAT. Custom marks will show up then.

From that point on, regardless of how you launch the game...through MAT, SturmStab, AAA switcher etc...the marks will show in QMB, FMB or campaigns.

If you get a mark you want that isn't showing up, just repeat the process above for that specific marking only.

This has worked for me every time after numerous re-installs of the sim.

KC

If you can't get it to work, you might try Mcwolf's Decal Shine mod & spookie's default marking mod.

I spent the better part of a month and never did get MM to work correctly. I did everything right but it would not work. Take my word for it, Decal Shine and Default Marking mods are just as good and are alot easier. You give up some options but ... I guess it is up to you how much work you want to do ...

Trust me...follow what I said in my previous post and it will work.

@Scharnhorst1943 - Why settle? Copy the IL2FB.exe, paste it into your IL2 folder. Rename the .exe as "IL2". Open MAT Manager...direct it to your IL2 folder. Then follow the directions I posted above. The best thing about MAT is that you can create your own TGA marks and use them in sim. I don't know if that can be done with the markings mod. I can post screenshots if you need more clarification.

The whole problem is that MAT doesn't like the "IL2FB.exe". You have to paste a copy of it into the root folder and rename it "IL2". As for a lot work? Not really. 10 minutes tops and it will work like a champ for you. A couple other peeps have followed my advice and it worked for them as well. You have to "force" MAT Manager to load the markings...like I posted above. 10 minutes of work and you'll get exactly what you want.

Cheers,

KC

Trust me ... I followed all directions to the letter. It had something to do with unchecking for archiving box or something. I followed every step above to a T, and it never would work for me. I gave up after about 20 installs and redoes, being meticulously careful with each attempt. I am not the only one that did everytyhing right and still could not get the program to work ... so. Oh well.

First of all, add ClearCache=0 into conf.ini [game] folder. Then follow forementioned post. I recommend check clear cache in Mat Manager.

I had this problem. It occurs because when you select your game location, the configuration parameters of MAT are not correctly updated! If you read carefully the error message, you will see that the game path displayed for the copy is not correct. Then, you have to correct this one manually. For this, go to the "IL2-MAT Manager" folder ( in C:\Program Files by default but you have maybe installed it in an other place). In this folder, you find "IL2-MAT Manager.ini" and "IL2-MAT Manager User.ini" files. In these files (use the notepad), you find in the [Root] section, a "FB_Root=" line. Correct this one to have your Il-2 path (for example: "FB_Root=C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946") then save and close. Do it in the 2 files. For my part, MAT did not copy the files simply because, in these files, the path had "Ubi soft" instead of "Ubisoft"... Then, if you have previously made the requirements about il2fb/il2, ClearCache=0 and the Cache and NetCache folders not read-only, il will work fine!
