Something strange and Nedd help - Humberto G - 14.11.2009

Please, Need Help:

AVG internet security warn me of a potentially harmful file (red color and all severity marks to the full) and it was or were C:2\Program Files\ Il2 .........\il2fb.exe (Don't ask me where folder "2" came from, nor why in C: where there is a windows XP); Actually my 4 versions (yes four) are in different places of D: running Vista 32. well, as Stupidity is free trade merchandise, I accepted what AVG suggested: quarantine this 2\....\Il2fb.exe because I used to trust them.

After that, NONE of my modded versions in different places of my Hard Disk ( UI 1.1 and UI 1.2 nor one with only sound 0.93 mod) could be launched.

Went back to AVG Virus Vault and asked for Restore the quarantined file. Hell fall on my head.

Now All versions start with the 4.09m version splash screen and obviously ALL of the modded versions ARE 4.09m!

All the folders that were supposed to be (files, Mods, QMB, Maps, etc.) are were they are supposed to be in their respective places on each modded version (??) but none of them work or appears in the game.

If there is no solution to this problem, please take it as a warning if you receive a message like the one that I receive from AVG or whatever anti-virus you uses, because I do have my suspicions on you know what, but can blame no one.

P.S. I run afterward a Windows defender full scan, no virus found followed by an AVG full scan, and no virus found as well.

you can restore your mod exe from the mod packs just unzip them into a seperate folder and copy the exe into your game flder s for each mod version or run game switcher and copy the exe into your other folders should work whos? you know who?

Barnesy12, Thanks for your tips

However when I extract to any folder, and not top the game, I have four folders (Files, Missions, Mods and Paint Schemes) and three files (AAA-Community_Mod_Version.txt, flc.exe and insert.bat, this last one disappears as soon as it runs) so I cannot guess which .exe file are you referring to, but flc.exe. Is this the one?

About the Who or What, it seems to me strange that ALL my Mods reverted to the Original, now, why is anyone interested in that only the original version runs?. Moreover if I run any of the Modded ones, they will run, with original Splash screen, only the original Flyable planes, and only the "original" Maps appears. Other Maps fails to show up because "load.ini" errors. The list of Aircrafts is Allies (All of them, no Modded), and afterward The Axis Aircraft, no Modded in the original sequence, not alphabetically ordered.

Any Idea?

Have you tried a "System Restore"? Not sure if it will work for this but it's saved me several times. Worth a try maybe...

thats because the original exe file is starting the game so it runs in original form as i understand it from playing around alot now as far as i know when you install a mod pack it has amod activator built in which activates the mods file but also changes the il2 exe file so it starts the modded version of the game so dont know what happend to your exe files but you need to put the moded exe file back in place if you unzip a modpack into another folder and copy paste the wrapper and exe file thats the one with the pictur on into the il2 game folder replace existing files click yes and when fished click the exe file and the game should start in whatever moded version you have the exe for when you run the game switcher ui 4.08 to 4.09 the exe file changes among other thing but if your mods and files are all there in your game folder then it should run sorry if my knwoledge is alittle shaky but im kinda new at this to but i have found that these files have reverted back to original for no apparent reason somthing to do with vitsa ithink one last thing you are clicking the right exe file as sumtimes there is an original in the game folder as well as the modded exe have made that mistake before hope this helps later!!!

Thank you Gentlemen for your support Big Grin

Decon: I did a System Restore and did not work for me.

Barnesy12: Because for what you have said, Yesterday I started with my IL2 4.08m Back up, and reinstalled UI 1.2: however I tested the game in each stage to be sure (4.08m and UI 1.1) and today I am using a Bold installation of IL2 with UI 1.2 and appears to be OK; I will miss however my lost UI 1.1 that had all the New Maps, Add ons and that kind of good stuff that make AAA a "worthfull" place, will try to go on Reinstalling them.

One question Remains: why AVG Identity Protection told me that IL2fb.exe was a potentially dangerous file? why few days ago and not way back when I installed, as an example, UI 1.2? will this happen again? :???:

Anyhow I appreciate your Concern, and help; again Thanks both of you for your help. Big Grin
