Greetings
Im getting real low FPS with my game. In the 15-20 fps range with 3.20 GHz duel core with 2.0 GB Ram and NVIDA GE 6200 video.
Shouldnt I be getting better than this? The game settings are set at medium. Seems to me Im way above the minimum game specks but get low performance. Any tweeks to improve performance?

Better or more memory for starters. Also you can help by eliminating most of your background programs from running to help reduce workload on the CPU...

Enditall2 program it great for this....its free you just need to find it on the net for download....

More memory and better graphics card will help for sure. I'm able to run very smooth in perfect mode with high rez trees and water using a 2.2 x4core, Nvidia 9800gt, and 8 gb ram. I just can't throw too much at it though. 4.08 runs noticeably better on mine than 4.09 also. After upgrading try getting a monitor with a high refresh rate ( 75hz-85hz CRT or above preferably), this will be your max fps potential. And make sure you run your game and your desktop in the same resolution, if not Windows defaults your refresh rate back to 60hz(making 60 your max fps). And on my rig the difference between 60 fps and 85 fps is obvious. And try experimenting with lower resolutions as well, this will surely make a difference, like 800 x 600. It's not great, but it's smooooth. Hope this helps.

this will help a little bit,

Right click on your desktop
go to nvida control setting thing
find il2 under program settings(idk what the name is im not at my pc)
Once you have found il2
turn of everything that can be turned off

That should help a bit or even alot in ur case

Thanks for the input guys.

I lowered screen res down to 800x600 then tried the gamebooster/endit all program. I ran a few tests on the Moscow map at 8 am hazy weather results: Cockpit on, fps in the 21-24 range. Cockpit off, in the low 30s per second.
Will getting a new video card help that much and is it a plug and play thing or will I need a MIT degree do do it? Cost is also an issue.

Good news, your video card is the weak link and they are easy as pie to change. the 6200 was useless when new and is basically a place holder. Get a 7950 or a 8800 series card with 512mb onboard ram and you will be good to go. nVidea has a new series of cards and Im not familiar with their numbering system but among the old series always go for the x8xx cards or higher, ie the gaming card in the 6xxx series was the 6800. I used a 6200 briefly. Try running 1024x768 and 16 bit colour depth. It will not look pretty, but you should get payable frame rates.

I used a 6600GT 128mb and then a 256mb AGP card for years with Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters and then 1946. I accepted the fact that 'Perfect' settings were impractical and just got on with it at 'Excellent' or medium/high game settings. No problems.

The difference I saw with an 8800GTX PCIe when I changed the computer was huge. 'Perfect' was smooth and the view was awesome.

Go for whatever you can, but the difference between 6xxx and 8xxx cards and is very noticeable.
