I think he's referring to the shift-F1 view that only has a gunsight in the middle of the screen, which resembles the view you'd have from the cockpit of wonder woman's invisible plane

IIRC, the term was inspired by her invisible plane and has been floating around for some time. (since one may turn off the cockpit with shift+f1, it made sense and it caught - aka HUD Display)
