Can't get rid of black side bars after Win7 upgrade - ceege1 - 26.11.2009

I've updated my pc to Windows 7 and now I can't get rid of the black bars down the sides of my monitor with using the widescreen mods?
I'm getting a little desperate now as I can't get rid of these side bars at all.

I've tried the confini values as mentioned ,also by putting both wide screen mods at the top of my mods folder by putting 00 in front of each of them.
Its making no sence at all to me, as I had no issues with this at all when I was running Vista. Everything happened as soon as I switched to Windows 7, I have added nothing or changed anything to cause this problem ???
Do I have to uninstall and reinstall them maybe ?

Help... I am lost as to why this is happening.

Thanks in advance

ah that's wenn you set it on widescreen right? i have that too Sad and wenn i put it on TFT then all planes are extra flat and very wide Sad i think it has something to do with the resolution but i don't know the answer on your question tbh sorry Sad

Just wanted to let you know your not alone with this problem. It's a bit dissapointing i now have a great PC and had high hopes for the graphics and all but tbh it's so dissapointing lol

Regards Rowddy.

Make sure you have save aspect set to 0 in your [window] section of conf.ini... as well as having a proper widescreen resolution (either 16/9 or 16/10 depending on you default rez of the monitor).

Here are my settings for a 16/9 aspect monitor with 1920x1080 resolution:

[window]
width=1920
height=1080
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

If you wish... you could try my little edit of original mod from UfJosse and SASCyrx from here:

thread of discussion is here:

My version has icons modified (after Flyzoo mod) , smaller fonts in some cases, map border very thin, modified splashscreen and a HUD log reduced in "verbose", feel free to test it and modify further as you please. You can delete or desable with a - the mod parts that you don't like... icons, background picture, hud log etc...

edit: Hi zaelu! I see we both posted at the same time.

Assuming your conf.ini file looks something like this (pay no attention to my width and height as I have a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of the the common 16:9 one):

[window]
width=1400
height=1050
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
