On a Wing and a Prayer - European Snake - 27.11.2009
I found far too many pictures of severely damaged aircraft to not make a thread for them. Here's what I'm coming up with after scrounging around online.
apparently, 6 of 9 men bailed out(one was killed in the plane)and the remaining 3 brought her home.
Heres a rare mid air photo
The tail gunner survived this direct hit because he was out of his position checking the tail wheel.
From where the real drama takes place
Note where the propeller sliced into the fuselage
All pics so far are from
www.daveswarbirds.com
Gotta love that site.
Now what the hell was this guy doing?
This poor B-24 has already been brought down.
A fire and explosion blew his wing off. You can see the main gear still in its retracted(and now exposed)position.
Cabin fire, no hope of many survivors in this one.
Ground collision, the bombs in his belly also blew.
These were mainly from blogspot.com
Wow
Here's a treat, a B-52 with no rudder.
And an F-14 with a partially missing wing

These are good pictures, many of the B17s and B24 pics I have seen in a book I have by Edward Jablonski. The one of the B24 rollling on its side was over Ploesti I believe

u forgot one of the most famous ones involving a F-15 that had a mid air collision in a mock dogfight. (The crew did not realise the wing had fell off otherwise they would have bailed in an interview following the incident)

I was trying to stick to more obscure accidents and reports. This one was too prolific, but amazing none the less.
