A bit confused, what is HSFX mod? - JG3_VonHahn - 28.11.2009
I have been active here for over one year now. I was there when UI 1.0 was out. When Ui 1.1 came out, when Ui 1.2 came out.
Now there is something different some people talk from. HSFX v4 or so. I have no Idea what this is. Would anybody could explain it to me?
Thanks in advance.

It could be called a " close competitor" to the UI 1.2 and there is not so much difference at all.
The only things that are different about it is a difference in available planes, mods and versions and the fact that the UI1.2 is far more common, especially online. My experience is that in terms of multiplayer use, the UI 1.2 beats the hell out of the HSFX. It loads more quickly ans is more stable.
Basically it's the same and it also has a version switching tool.

HSFX has ability to encrypt/incorporate modded files back to original game sfs files (game root) so game loads much faster

all future mod packs ( from all communities ) will be incorporated in HSFX packs ... so for online gaming it is a must have
for offline aspect , no it's not .... but you won't have 4.09m compatibility nor possibility for getting new mods ( those which won't be published as separate ones ...)
Me as offliner ... i'll have two installations ,
one based on UI 1.2 and customized to my taste >>>> for gaming
second one based on HSFX >>>> for mod testing

AAA is about to move to HSFX-V4.1 that will be used with 4.09m.
If you plan on moving on with most of the new stuff AAA comes out with in the
future I would say you do need HSFX-V4 it will be the base for more updates.
One of the best things About HSFX-V4 is diak space used.
With UI 1.2 I have 16GB used with HSFX-V4 which is about the same size it only uses 8.4GB.
HSFX-V4 loads in about 1/3 the time UI 1.2 does.
This is a QUOTE from Mr. Monguse.
"For those wanting to know the install procedure:
408m + 409m + HSFX 4.0 + HSFX 4.1 + additional map content from the UI not in SFS format at this time"
You can get the Download of HSFX-V4 here:

Never tried HSFX
But I have heard some good things about it..
One that it uses or should I say includes the AAA UI mods..
With the added benifit of bundling those mods into SFS files for faster load times..
The down side is, so I am told, don't know because I have yet to try HSFX..
Is that you can not disable the mods that are bundled up in the SFS files..
For example, there are some mods, something simply like lighting or runway dust mods that really choak older PCs with older Video cards..
In the AAA UI method you simply put a '-' in front of the folder with that particular mod to disable it..
But, assuming that mod is bundled up in the SFS file
How would you disable it now?
Any feedback welcome here, because like I said I am ignorant to HSFX, if it is posable to do, how do you do it? Disable a mod within the SFS bundle that is?

By now I have my installs so.
1. v4.08+UI1.1+additional mods (was too lazy to install 1.2) with version switcher for playing online 4.08, or offline 4.09beta modded.
2. v4.09 unmodded.
If I install HSFX over the 4.09 Version, is it possible to switch back to the unmodded 4.09 as easy as with the other version? What would you recommend?

I have to ASK what 4.09 are you asking ABOUT?
If its 4.09b1m the answer is NO - this only works with the UI 1.1 or 1.2.
If you are asking about HSFX-V4 the answer is yes with 4.09m.
Install goes like this disk 4.07m-->4.08m--->4.09m---> HSFX-V4.
With it you can turn the mods on and off - back to the ORG. 4.09m game

So basicly what u ppl are saying is that Hsfx4 is as is and thats that.No offence intended but what were they thinking.I fell in love with Hollys uranium edition and 50 call smoke trails-adds so much to the imersion.Dont get me wrong effecfts in hsfx4 are good but not that good.I was realy dissapointed when i found out that u guys are not going to make ui 1.2.5 as a stand alone, like u gave up or something.I am a creature of habit so i wasnt going to download hsfx at first but i had some problems with sounds(volume issues-too quiet guns from in cockpit, some engine sounds are more quiet than others, that kind of stuff) in ui 1.2,so i decided to give hsfx a try.I guess i will have to wait for some sound mod that will be balanced and not collection of 100 sampels from god knows how many users.Till than i will stick to the 1.2 with 1.1 sounds.
quote:.... but you won't have 4.09m compatibility nor possibility for getting new mods ( those which won't be published as separate ones ...)end quote-what new mods?.If u are talking about maps, object, cocpits, etc, sure u have a lot of work ahead of u ,but in gameplay imersion department i think that holly has put a full stop to that one(well done mate).
Ah i almost forgot best of luck with canvas knights
