If you had to choose :UP1.8 or HFSX4.0? - Dietz - 01.12.2009

Within the last two weeks I did a complete reinstall using UP1.8 with very little problems- game runs beautifully with only a few map questions to be ironed out.Now I've just found & downloaded HFSX4.0 (with Torrent) which looks very good indeed but with many of the same features as UP1.8 plus a few more apparently.So....what's the verdict- do I gain anything by switching over? Better minds than mine have probably reached a conclusion- could you share your thoughts?

UP 1.8 is built on top of HSFX 4.0. As a result, it has more planes and a few other items that are not included in HFSX 4.0.

When HSFX 4.1 comes out it should have the same planes as UP 1.8 and maybe some more items, but at this point UP 1.8 is the leader in new stuff.

I can only offer that HSFX seems the way forward and that UP updates and such will be geared also toward HSFX.

Is that what everyone else understands?

As I understand it, HSFX is geared more for SEOW, while UP is geared towards general online play.

Nope, UP 1.8 is specifically made for on-liners too.

I haven't used UP, but HSFX is excellent

I am using UP1.8, and I am loving it.

Very easy to change between mods, the load times are incredible, and very simple to add more mods.

Only one gripe though, I wish it would still use the 4.08version because many servers are still using them.

I tried AAA, HSFX, and now UP 1.8.
I think 1.8 is the best now for the flak sound and appearance and the visibility in high resolution is much better, only one thing is about the AI, i tried to create a simple dogfight mission and test AI in flight with both HSFX and UP 1.8 and AI seem way better in HSFX.

I will test it tonight again just to have a second tough.

I've used both AAA 1.1 & UP1.8 & like both, but I would highly recommend UP1.8. Ultrapack 1.8 included HSFX so you do not need to DL HSFX seperately.

Between UP 1.8 & HSFX 4.0 I would go with UP 1.8.. if for no other reason that it has the AAA Mustangs ... if I were starting from scratch.. and I had to choose between UP 1.8 & HSFX 4.1.. that would be a duifferent story.. but 4.1 is not here yet. So today I would go with UP.
