HSFX Online Oddity - Aviar - 04.12.2009

I was hosting a 4.09m (no mods) coop today. One of the guys was using the HSFX modpack. At one point, he had to make an emergency landing on a road. This is what he saw of his plane after he landed:

This is what everyone else saw when they viewed his plane:

His plane looked like it was 100+ meters up and just floating in mid-air. Strange.

What map is this on?

This is probably the result of VP media's default map upgrades he included different map_h's for default maps and people who dont have them will see weird stuff like this.

VP's intention was good, but his maps are not made for online play. If you have his mod, disable all the map_h.tga files that come with it.

Well, I asked the player and he said it is HSFX default. He's not sure if that particular mod is in HSFX. BTW, the map was the default Ardennes (no mods).

I've seen just the opposite effect caused by lag. More than once I've watched fellow squadmates aircraft slowly sink into solid ground and that was before mods were available.

GilB57 Wrote:The difference in mountain heights suggest another Map_H file ....

I didn't do any modification in mine so it's default one. Maybe you use a modified version for summer map (VP's pack ?)

That explains everyhing. Well, I changed the line in load_w.ini and now I have the mountains on my wintermap too.

lol, weird things happen online with lag: e.g. planes flying really quickly away and flipping across the screen, sinking into the ground, etc
