How do I rotate objects in FMB? - Brockenheim - 06.12.2009

Sorry, I should know better, but can someone tell me how to rotate objects in FMB. I used to do it with the arrow keys on my PC but since i use a laptop now (with no arrow keys on the right of the keyboard), I cant work out how to do it. Driving me mad...

use numpad 7/9 or 4/6 or 1/3 . Dependend on the numbers you take the angle will be higher or lower.
Yu should have a fn button, if you dont have numpad. This should have another coler, for me its blue, and you have blue integers on your letters. With pressing fn+(the letter with the integer, for example j for 1) it should be understood like a numpad input.
This is, how i do on my laptop

Using the NumPad:
7,9 keys: 5 degree changes.
4,6 keys: 15 degree changes.
1,3 keys: 30 degree changes.
5 key: Face East.

Using the mouse: You've got to be in 3D-view. Select the object to rotate and hit Enter. Hold down the mouse's scroll wheel and move the mouse left/right. The object will rotate through all angles.

Get a USB key board for your lap top
they are cheap and they have the number pad.
Thats how I fixed that problem.

I also have a question about FMB. How do you raise objects into the air, for example in the air race server I have seen lights on top of the factory smoke stacks that they use for the course.

You place your object -- click enter now this is the tricky part.
Press and hold F4+left click mouse and push away from you. The object will rise.
If you want more at the same level press the INSERT key the number of time you want say 4 --
press it three times as you already have one there.

This only works for lights and smoke objects, however.

Lights - Nadia - 06.12.2009

I did'nt know about the F4 letf mouse options.
I placed LIGHTS and smoke on top of smoke stacks and ships this way: found a nearby illside.
Placed ten or so smokes in a straight line at various heights and regular intervals.
Found the one that is the closest of what I needed, delete the others. But before you move any,
for a check this one out, you may want to mark the spot where it came from.

I gest now is time for a change of pace.

Thanks for F4 tip. Was it in iL2 the original booklet ?
