[WIP] Me-262 Cockpit Repaint - Guest - 06.12.2009

I am repainting the cockpit of the Me-262.

2 things I need to know first.

Should I translate the German words to american? Or should I leave them?

Another thing, were do I file that changes the lights of the guages when I turn on the cockpit lights?

Thanks!
I'l keep you updated!

I am making fancey tan leather interior.

And updating the guages.

will this be a historical repaint, or a what if.

- bolox - 06.12.2009

the 'night light' version of the guages will be the tga's with a '....._night' ending eg 2petitsb_night (and 2petitsb_d1_night for the damaged gauge  ) usually these are greyscale and require no alpha channel with colour adjustment done using the relevant .mat file (ie same name as tga) try playing with the numbers in the 'colorscale' line (red, green. blue, transparency)

of course you could do it differently....
just remember to backup regularly and learn from 'mistakes'

good luck and have fun

If you want my opinion, you MUST keep the German language for the gauges, English language in a German cockpit is an heresy !!!

Unless you want to represent a captured and reconditionned plane for test fly, but ! you need documentation about that...

The documentation for an original cockpit is already very difficult to find, I do not dare to imagine if it is possible to find this kind of thing...

Did you figure out the cockpit repainting all by yourself?

- Rowddy - 07.12.2009

it looks like a Volkswagen at night hehehe

- bolox - 07.12.2009

white lights at night- if you used the technique i mentioned above and the... night tga is painted white, then .mat file line should be something like 1.0 1.0 1.0 0.4- ie red green blue all at full. 0.4 is a starting point for transparency( red+green+blue=white if you 'mix' light- remember those 'boring physics lessons' )

while i'm all for historical 'playing around' has it's purpose for learning how the game deals with stuff

http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/Paneln ... bauten.htm

might be of interest for some pics of 262 panel. look around site- it should be your first point of call if thinking about doing luftwaffe pits

- fly_zo - 07.12.2009

i have most of my cockpits set with yellowish light ....

mat settings :

[Layer0]
TextureName Textur1_night.tga
ColorScale 1.0 1.0 0.4 0.3 //0.0 1.0 0.5 0.3
AlphaTestVal 0.1
tfBlend 1
tfTestA 1

hope it helps

Yes, cockpit repainting was very easy. But mine didn't look so good for tan in teh aircraft, so I left it.
