It makes mapmodding easier than ever.
As said DL this with your own risk and make backup first...And read the posts before!

Oh! My specs: old Athlon dualcore 5200 and nvidia 9400 512 + 4 gig ram and XP pro sp3

Many thanks to HaDeS of Ultr@pack for creating this fantastic tool!

The benefits of this .exe are HUGELY system-dependant. No change in performance on my dual-core AMD64 rig running Win7 64-bit with an Nvidia 9600 and 4GB RAM, even though they say it works best on a 64-bit machine. But I have heard it's worked wonders for some people.

- asheshouse - 14.12.2009

Real benefits for map making, and it does seem to run smoother, but need more testing to confirm that.
Could also open Finland and Battle of France maps in FMB Map Editor mode without fiddling with the actors file.

Juggling actors files could become a thing of the past. Smile

Specs:

Processor: Athlon X2 @ 4400mhz
Ram: 2048MB DDR2 800MHz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD3870 GPU PCIE 512MB GDDR4

I have made few tests. I opened Alpen map, copied some buildings to another map and save it. Took a while, but it works. Missions can be saved and everything.
Man. This opens mapmodding to those who wants to edit default maps. No need to use zutis actorstools anymore...But that tool is still good for speeding up the loading times.
Editing defafult maps is now as easy as mission making (almost).

I can confirm the benefits for map makers as well.

Previously I could open 3 or 4 maps one after the other in map-maker, to copy/paste and at some early point the map-maker would crash. Or load a map, use 'select all' and have another crash soon afterwards, or be limited to building actors of often not more than 400k a go, on large-sized maps.

Now, I've been able to open map after map, 'select all', copy parts of parts around like it's nothing and moreover open very large actors, far above and beyond the standard 500k limit.

So this is a little wonder mod as far as I am concerned. Works wonders for my regular game too. Frame rates are way up, even by simply using my Mark I Eyeball.

But if you are going to try it out, read all the posts first and try out the different possibilities of modding. For instance, even though I don't have Track IR I had to use the mod for that in order for it to work, and then patched with the 4gig patch as well.

Really? I can open my map all at once? I have to try this!

agracier,
What OS are you using? I use XP (32 bit) Home myself and, unfortunately, this new exe crashed on me when I went to work on my Denmark map. Sad Seemingly XP32 has an issue with this exe.

Raising the available memory from the laughable (in our day and age) 96M is a good thing but there obviously are a few limitations/bugs left in this exe. Hope they get ironed out soon, this is the sort of thing I've been looking forward to. Big Grin

I have a quadcore running on XP 64bit, 2gig RAM and some kind of GForce video card -

I had to test both the non IR Track and the Track IR versions of the mod.

I don't use IR Track, so I tested the non IR Track version first. That didn't work. Then tested the IR Track version and my game loaded but not the maps. So then I 4Gig patched the IR Track exe and now all works as it should.

So don't forget to check out using the 4gig Patch before giving up ... you've got 2x2 possibilities which is not too many to try out. It was worth it.

Here is a link for the 4gig Memory patch:

Thnx agracier, I'll try the 4 gig patch. Both the non-6DOF and the 6DOF failed. 8)

I have HSFX 4.1 and when prompted to replace the old exe with the new one, I see that they are both the same?

- Bee - 14.12.2009

Wonderful addition isn't it? Been using it for a while now to copy/paste pieces from Slovakia towns and factories into other maps. It's the single greatest advancement the map maker have had in a long while.

+1!
I love it. I toyed all night with it. Now i really can edit the Finnsgulf default map easier!!! it needs some buildings to Helsinki and Kotka. I will not make it public, though. Just for me.

It might be the Win 7 issue. I cant even open some old progs with my W in7 32 bit version. Have you tried to tweak win 7 to use winxpp mode?
It is a shame, because this is fabulous achievment....
