Sealion(a) same concept, new mission, new maps(Zuti MDS) - AJD-NZ - 03.01.2010

Oh well better late than never

Here's the "Sealion" mission I've been working on, it's the same concept but a completely new mission, using Canons latest maps, with summer & winter versions.
Made to be used with UltraPack 2.0, which includes Zuti's MDS 1.1

Try the floatplane air starts :o

I've made a "story board" for the mission, you can download it here - http://www.4shared.com/file/188005204/1 ... board.html I'm no novelist, but it should give you some idea of whats going on Wink

Problem loading the new Sealion missions. - RAF_Samson - 04.01.2010

Hey there AJD-NZ,

I have had no problems at all loading your original Sealion missions mate, but with the new ones I keep getting an error. It keeps telling me that the "Mesh 3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created"

I tried removing the paratroops from the mission but that didn't work so I put them back. I've looked all through the mission in Full Mission Builder and using notebook and haven't found anything remotely resembling what the error message mentions. Do you have some new mod installed that I'll need to get these missions to work? Or if you don't do you know what might be causing this error?

- AJD-NZ - 04.01.2010

G' day Samson, sorry to hear that you're having trouble loading the mission, but have you installed UltraPack 2.0 ?
I don't think it will work with anything else, because Zuti_MDS 1.1, is in UltraPack 2.0.
If your Hard drive is big enough, you should be able to run multiple versions of IL-2 1946, I do

Problem loading the new Sealion missions. - RAF_Samson - 04.01.2010

Howdy AJD-NZ,

No mate, that's not it, I've tried it in both with no luck so far. I'm presently going through all of the ini files in the objects folder to see if something is amiss there but haven't found anything yet. I've probably done something to screw things up but I sure can't figure out what. LOL. Thanks for the speedy answer and keep making missions mate, you make good ones.

- Dustydog - 05.01.2010

Hey Samson! I have the same as you, the old missions work for me, but not this one. I tried the 1GB client, and the 4GB 64 bit client. Strange thing is the 4GB client worked for a while, when I only have a 32 bit system and 2GB of ram. Eventually though the mission crashed and now I get the paratroop mesh error on that too. At least I got to try it.
So I'm thinking it could be just my crappy system and the fact I only have 2GB ram Smile

Mesh 3d0/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created? - RAF_Samson - 05.01.2010

Hey there Dusty,

I tried the 4 gig one and had problems so I went to the 1 gig and it runs fine with the exception of the new Sealion missions. I've looked all through the ini files and most of the properties files with no luck finding anything concerning the Paratroopers/Russia thing anywhere. It might be some mod that we do or don't have activated but if not that I don't have a clue. I think I'll try looking through the mods next and see what I find there. It's a puzzle and unfortunately for me puzzles are like a chipped tooth, I can never leave them alone. LOL.

- Dustydog - 05.01.2010

Oh well, please let me know if you make any findings, I'm at a loss with this one. I have the mods folder disabled. I usually take things to bits and have no clue how to reassemble them.... :?
I was under the impression that the paratroop mesh thing, was like a general error message, if the mission doesn't load and not really anything to do with paratroops....God bless 'em!

Quite Right! The paratrooper message usually indicates a lack of sufficient memory to load everything that the mission calls for. It sometimes may indicate that the player's game is missing objects required by the mission/map (I think, not as sure on that one).

Try setting compression to S3TC in IL-2 Set-up (icon in the main game folder with the hammer and sickle logo, next to IL2fb.exe, under the "video" tab, select "custom" rather than a specific card type and you'll see the box for it) or in the conf.ini. You could also try reducing your overall graphic settings.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Strider

- Dustydog - 06.01.2010

Yeah, thanks for the reply Strider. I already have the compression set, like I said, I think my lowly 2 gb's of ram is insufficient, and I try to squeeze the life out of my dated video card. (I do like the eye candy) Smile
It's just these missions, guess I'll have to try with lower settings Cry

- AJD-NZ - 06.01.2010

Sorry, I haven't replied sooner, I've been away & just got back. I agree with Strider, I also think it's an insufficient RAM issue.

Unfortunately it is quite busy at the start, because I've tried to make it playable as a single mission, co-op & dogfight mission & to show what's possible with the latest Zuti MDS.

Also as it's a 2hr mission, I was thinking of remaking it as a couple of simpler 1hr missions, if you guys want me to.
But I am getting a bit fed up with these missions, it's a bit like "ground hog day" for me Smile

- Dustydog - 06.01.2010

No need to bother on my account, if it's getting boring for you. However I will gladly suck up anything you throw out there....Many thanks Big Grin

- AJD-NZ - 06.01.2010

OK, I'll make a couple of simpler (approx 1hr) missions, that will be less demanding on RAM etc, but don't hold your breath.

When I said I'm getting a bit fed up with these missions, it's not so much the missions, but using the same map, because I've been making missions using Canons English Channel maps for months now & I'm looking forward to using a different map.

But obviously I do enjoy building missions Big Grin

- AJD-NZ - 07.01.2010

Just a bit of an update Smile

I made a cut down version of Sealion(a), but it's not the mission, its Canons new maps, there's too much detail & they need lots of RAM !
Using my system with 2gb of RAM(dual core 2.8 & 8800GT 512mb video card) even in FMB I get the "Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low" message.
In game, when I press the arming & fly buttons they take ages, although the mission itself plays fine at 60fps.

Today I added another 1GB of RAM, making a total of 3GB & it's as smooth as a baby's bum.
