just got the patch. and now it just locks up at 95%.. far as i can tell all the files are in the right dicrctory..

Did you make a CLEAN install.
NOTHING left behind in the game folder?
4.07m disk-----4.08m---------4.09m.
If done like this all should be fine.

im not sure if it was a clean install.. the site i got it from simply called it 409m, not sure if it was the english or russian version.
and i had the game running with the unified installer version 1, could that affect it?

Yes. As I know UI1.1 and UI1.2 aren't compatible with 409m (and they've installed 409m beta).
You might use UP2.0 or HSFX4.1 (but read about mod activators at SaS site)

If you installed over UI 1.1 it was not a clean install.
It will not work like that.

(sigh) so the only realistic option is a compleat reinstall... has any one tried reinstalling the UI after the patch?

i did compleatly copy the original files for il2 when it was at 408. would a simple copy and paste, followed by the patch do the trick?

Don't install UI over 409M...can't work.
Make a clean install, up to 408, make a backup copy of the entire folder patched to 408 so you can use it for other/alternative setups, then one installation up to 409M.
I'm playn' with UI1.2 on one IL2 patched only to 408 (UI upgrade it to 409Mbeta1), and I've a second game's installation with new 409M using Ultrapack2.0
As I said there's a way to use UI and 409M together via Sas Mod activator but I haven't used it so read more here: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1008.0.html

Make a completely new install of the game...4.07m disk-----4.08m---------4.09m... then choose to install Ultrapack (UP) 2.0 or HSFX4.1 .
I have UP 2.0.
Then RE-START your computer. Let it run for 3 minutes. That way your pc will read the new info properly.
It should work then.
ALWAYS make sure to re-start your computer after you install new stuff on it.

with the UP2.0 would i say, be able to connect to a server with people that dont have it? or would i be limited to the 4 or so servers that have it standard..

There are many servers now that use 4.09m + UP2.0 or HSFX V4.1
