[Download] B24-J "PALACE OF DALLAS" -
checkmysix - 06.01.2010
Hi Guys.
"PALACE OF DALLAS" B-24 Liberator 389th B.G
The SKY SCORPIONS U.S.A.A.F.
Was Rammed and destroyed by Uffz. Heinrich Rosner, (ex-III/JG.10) "Sonderkommando Elbe"
on 7th April 1945.
This was recently featured in the excellent "Dogfights" series on the "Military Channel".
Unfortunatly I could'nt find any actual photo's of this Aircraft so I used the "Dogfights" episode
as reference so please forgive any inaccuracies.
Thanks

One small thing, the lettering you have is in red, but the picture from 'Dogfights' has the name in black, just saying. And also it would be nice to the B-24 'Sacktime' as well.

Hi Old 666
Yeah Sorry about the screenie its not the best quality as its from Youtube and a not very clear.
It was the only shot that showed the plane in Full profile, and from the First screenie the lettering DOE'S look Black
BUT as you can see from the screenie below[Still not great quality] the lettering is Red.
I have used some guess work as this Episode was my only point of reference.
I have watched the 'Dogfights' episode on T.V and the Red is much more noticable.
I think 'Sacktime' has already been Skinned.
Thanks

checkmysix, nice screenie you had there, and the Bf-109 in the picture with the severed wing, that one collided into another B-24 that just so happend to be next to 'Palace of Dallas', this made a gaping hole into the other Liberator. The negitive g-force was so great that the plane disentegrated with such a force the about four of the crew were literally thrown out of the bomber. But still, that is an epic photo there, it's a grim reminder on just how dangerous war can be. But thankfully for the allies, April 7th, 1945, was the only time in which intentional ramming attacks were ever used by the Luftwaffe simply because most of the Bf-109's were A
hot down by the escorting P-51 Mustangs. B: forced to back to base because of engine problems. And C:Well, we can leave that part alone. 8) And P.S: I love Dogfights, it's one of my favorite shows.
