Poll 409m or 408m for best gaming experience - AAMickeyAA - 07.01.2010
I'm doning a fresh install of 1946 and am wondering which concept brings the best gaming pleasure regarding 1 year ahead or so:
I'll play mainly offline (Finnish and big historic scenario related camps/missions), but also some online flying is in my interests (used to be a big fan of Warbirds).
Is it yet even possible to install 4.09m and add UI1.1 and UI1.2?
So... Plz drop ya vote on your preferred way to go further from my interests.
Also comments are naturally well apreciated

I think best is 1946 + 4.09 + no mods
not because the mods are bad, they just slow il-2 too much.

Forget about the UI... 1.1 or 1.2. Get the HSAFX4.1 (Which is UI 1.25.. fully 4.089 compatible)

I find that the HSFX 4.1 loads in all of 35 seconds... asd opposed to 2:35 for the UI 1.2

With UP 2.0 you get HSFX 4.1 prepackaged in a single mod GME enabler. In addition, there are a number of great mods prepackaged in UP2.0 including MDS 1.1!

agreed. as for the first option in the poll, is it even possible to install these over 4.08m? :???: i thought 4.09m was required.

It seems going with 4.09 + UP2 is my choice after studying this all a bit more. Tnx for all answers.

may be off topic but anyways, i was wondering if i get UP with my 4.09 can i play with regular 4.09 servers? and if i got HSFX could i do the same?

Well, I believe you need UP 2.0 w/MDS 1.1 enabled to fly Warbirds modded (Spits vs. 109s). To fly stock 4.09m, UP has a 4.09m base mod pack which you can enable in GME (Note, HSFX has this feature as well). Simply move everything from right to left, then move the 4.09m base from left to right. UP 2.0 even has a pack for USL add-ons but I am not too familiar with that gig other than perusing its forum, and of course, base HSFX.
GME is definitely a sweet tool for managing mods, and now with the pack sets (MDS 1.1, HSFX, USL, etc...) under one roof in an install such as UP 2.0, its easy to set up your IL2 configuration for any need. Sweet!

I don't like what UP did to the AAA Mustangs ... For me it doesn't matter if they believe they got it right or not.. that is irellavant.. They should have either left them alone.. or creeated yet another slot for their version of the plane... and this is not to cause any kind of flame war or anything... but taking the AAA ponies.... and altering them... not to mention the smoke issue... UP looks good.... it is a decent enough mod pack.. but I will be glad when there is one mod pack period.
