well title speaks for itself, i'm rather a newby flying in il2 and i can't find how to open the gunsight so i can see true,
is that possible??

It's Control D by default. You center the gunsights on the German planes with Shift F1, and the I16 has manual gear.
Not to offend you or anything, I struggled with these commands when I was a noob

I think it's called reticle dimmer in the commands...

some aircraft have tinted glass you can swing down over the reticle like sunglasses
