F6 Hellcat Flight Model issues - Keenefx - 10.01.2010

I have noticed that the flight model for the F6 series Hellcats seem to be worse than the F4s, and I can't understand why, since the F6 was an improved version of the F4.
Specifically the Stall characteristics....they are killing me, and I can't seem to keep up with or turn with the A6M5s???
Am I missing a mod upgrade on this???

you shouldn't be able to turn with the zekes............what mod pack do you have?

The FM2 could turn with the zero if it kept it's speed above 200mph (all other things being equal such as energy state, fuel load etc.).
The F6F was meant to be superior to the Zero in speed, rate of climb and dive speed, I don't know about turning. Turn rate can be affected by so many things- it may be different depending on altitude, speed or energy state going into the turn, trim and the pilot's ability to maintain the turn without too much energy bleed. Also remember that turns were usually not executed as flat turns, they involved yo-yoing in most cases.
Knowledgeable folks such as Ronnco have complained about the stock F6Fs in game being underpowered.

I honestly dont have a ton a trouble. its all in picking your angle of attack. i feel that i have the power advantage in the F6 regardless of popular opinion. i take wider sweeping turns bleeding less energy. you have to use your brain to stay behind a zero when using this approach. you almost have to anticipate their move. it works for me 80% of the time. you can climb just as fast and dive faster then a zero supposedly. just figure out the historical advantages of the aircraft and incorporate them into your attack solutions. that was my frame of mind.

i will say it was frustrating at first....you have to get over the fact that the F6 WILL NOT turn like a 109 at all. and thats a hard pill to swallow if youve flown quick snappy turning aircraft for long time before flying american planes,

In real life i believe Hellcat was better than what we have in IL-2, looks a weak engine, but lets find trusted data to sugest a revision in FM (new slot).

F6 Flight Mod Revisited - Keenefx - 11.01.2010

Everyone is correct about the turning issue. I went back and watched the history channel digital animation of the F4 and F6, and it was the speed issue that was the major upgrade, although in game, the speed does not overtly seem to be as present as one would like, but I tried the earlier model F6 and it "seemed" to handle better than the late.
I was getting my butt burned quite a bit in the F6, so I tried my hand at the A5s and was cleaning up; so it's gotta be my handling skill that needs improvement.
It seems, and correct me if i'm wrong, but most U.S. fighters seem to be more difficult to handle than others.....such as the Corsair which I love from watching The Black Sheep Squadron....
