4.09m problem - hk7686 - 19.01.2010
I tried the search function but can't find a solution.
I have a steam copy of 4.08m, when I apply the 4.09m, I get a short load indicator then nothing.
I'm installing with the 4.09m winrar extractor
applying it to steam/common/il2 1946
it seems to extract everything fine but no dice on it working.
am I doing something wrong?

do you have mods in your 4.08m? if so that is your problem.

no it's vanilla.
I've been lurking google and have found no troubleshooting issues, do I have the right 4.09m?
it's just a winrar exe file that gives me a path, and changes some files in my il2 and replaces some older files, and adds a readme.

I may have found the issue gonna test it out real quick.
I found a post on the ubi forums, the guy had the same issue I am, it had to do with his older amd mobo/cpu(which is what I have) not working with the 4.09 sound dll files, I'm gonna back up the sound dlls from 4.08 and copy them into my 4.09 installation and see if that works.
if anyone has any other ideas let me know plz, I'm starting to have withdraws from the game.
I'll keep ya posted on the outcome.

The issue was with my sound dll files, the 2mg dlls and the 1 bin dll, pasted those from my backup of 4.08m into the new 4.09m install, works perfectly.

Question:
Installing IL-2 1946 clean
Installing 4.08m patch
Installing 4.09m patch
Installing HSFX 4.0
Installing HSFX 4.1
Installing HSFX 4.1 fix
Making sure paths are correct. Running Windows XP.
Is this the correct sequence? Did I omit anything necessary?

8FS_Bulau Wrote:There have been some issue with new .dlls in the 4.09 patch for some people.
What often fixes it, is, after installing the 4.08m patch, copy and save these two file:
mg_snd.dll
mg_snd_sse.dll
Then, after installing the 4.09m patch, replace the new files with the ones saved from 4.08m.
Say thanks to Bulau.
