helpful warning or virus? - hammond67 - 27.01.2010
Hello everybody
I've come across some problems today concerning copy and pasting and rar files. Every time I try to drag a file into another one, a message comes up:
Are you sure you want to copy or move files to this file?
You should only copy or move files from locations that you trust.
There are 2 buttons (yes & no), the picture to the left is a brown padlock with a brown " ! " sign.
The second problem I have concerns rar files. I cant open them or right click on them, If i try to open them or right click them, I get this message:
Your current security settings do not allow this action.
There is one button (ok), a yellow padlok and " ! " sign with a grey key
I Have AVG version 9.0.733, I also have PC tools firewall plus
I have also recently downloaded tortiose svn if this is the problem
:???: although im not sur about that
sorry for the detail but its because i would like to get rid of this problem, and wouldn't like haveing my computer wiped, AGAIN!!!

Operating system?
Are you copying and or trying to open the rar files from a network drive? IE has some funky security rules that can cause this even if you don't have it open...

No Im running them straight off the desktop

Thank you Skull!!!!
I opened up the IE security options and pulled them back. rar files now open and all is good. I don't even use IE, I use firefox? grrr

Glad to be of service. I too use only Firefox, but some of the IE security settings can be global and in effect even if IE isn't open in a window.
