They really improve Oleg's originals.Please read ENTIRE thread as it explains downloading from Russian site ( avoiding pittfalls of a Russki Bride or worse showing up at your house) and some possible glitches.These map improvements really make a difference when playing older single & campaign missions.
Proceed with care & as always save your current Mapmods folder before installing this mod!

Go to SAS site then Modworks then Guestmods & topic will be there ...I don't think you have to be registered to get in.
Goblin -they work well in game , whether you like them any better than the HSFX versions. ..well that's a matter of personal taste & why its a good idea to save a copy of your original Mapmods folder, so you can simply go back to it...if you have one.... :???:

I posted it over there after the AviaSkins link. Very, very beautiful repaints. SLADE himself said they may not be exactly historical, due to lack pictorial evidence from the period, but they certainly capture the "mood" of the Eastern Front. And I live in Eastern Europe, so I should know...

I prefer to use VP Media's retextured stock maps to be honest.
In my opinion the new Stalingrad map is too much of a texture explosion:

Messer- I really like these versions...I think I see more tank tracks around Kursk...all the new rtextures in any version you like are most welcome additions ...Oleg's tended to be flat & always always green, now Russia looks as if there are rolling hills & the colors of wheats & grains being grown in the Summer time, & Bee...sometimes I get a 70% CTD too!
I spite of all the CTDs and screwed up bits & pieces & dozens of restarting at the beginning etc...I love this sim & mostly its due to all these terrific Mods!

one side effects that can occur from using a reskinned map it that the objects on the map were placed (by the map maker or mission maker) according to the textures that were underneath them. the new textures may invalidate quite a lot of object placement because of their new placement.

I have to change my mind partially 'cause some maps do have nice textures.
Some are keepers like Crimea and Smolensk, some are not and still a few to try out.
