BARE METAL P-40B - BOYAN - 01.02.2010

Hello everyone. It seems that i cant find bare metal skin for P-40B. Only 3 bare metal were delivered to USAAC in 1940.

Right here:

Can anybody make one please? I would be really thankful.

That is a nice looking Tomahawk. I'd love to have a skin like that as well. 8)

What is so great about bare metal? More armor? What?

- Skunkmeister - 01.02.2010

Bare metal = no paint = less weight = faster airplane.

- BOYAN - 01.02.2010

Something different. Clarity. Pre war USAAC.

Does anyone know if it exists? Somwhere?

Speaking of aircraft coatings, I remember hearing about Sabre pilots greasing the rivets to reduce drag, lol.

DOWNSIDE of bare metal, you stick out like a sore thumb.

I could try this skin.
So the plans is a P-40? is that the exact name in the file system?

- BOYAN - 02.02.2010

That is P-40, no prefix no sufix. First production models delivered in april 1940. Few of them were delivered to Service and test division for evaluation wearing bare metal skins. The rest of production was standard.

Check this site, its great: http://hawksnest.1hwy.com/Variants/Variants.html/
