Need assistance - Total re-install & modding - Hong Weibing - 04.02.2010
Howdy All,
Long story short:
1. was patched to 4.09m1b with Flushy's clouds mod / propeller mod V2 / tyre screech / engine flame / ground dust / Buffy flak.
I installed a new campaign which only works on 4.09m ... so
2. Did a complete re-install from Il2 1946 & updated with 408m / 409m.
The sim works flawlessly, but the mods don't anymore (i removed them when uninstalling my 4.09m1b game).
Here is the question...
3. Which file should I download & install prior to installing mods? I simply can't remember.
Some of you may find me odd, but I'm only interested in cosmetics / eye-candy, and eventually a few sounds.
Although I appreciate all the great work done out there by adding new planes, I simply feel there are already too many airplanes in stock IL2 for me to handle!
Cheers & thx in advance,
Hong

OK. Read through tons & tons of pages on AAA and all unified installers seem to go well beyond my needs !
with my basic eye-candy urge and a 4.09m install in mind :
can I just proceed with installing the old "ENG_Sound_mod_Version_092" + "409_MOD_b1m" (as I previously did for my 409b1m install)?
The 409_MOD_b1m name worries me... is there a 409_MOD somewhere? so that I can then install the clouds / props / and so on mods.
No additional aircrafts, no cockpits, nothing. Just the basic stuff seems to keep me happy. No online play either !
Cheers,
Hong

If you have the game installed to 4.09m unmodded then the best way forward is to install the mod packs.
Either HSFX 4.1 or UP2.0
UP2.0 is the most widely used.
I use HSFX4.1
