Ju-87 Stuka referance? - mnlk999 - 13.02.2010

Does anyone know of a sorce for referances on the angle of attack in the Ju-87 and how to use
the "degrees" on the starboard side of the cockpit.

There are two useful books..the better is Peter C Smith "Ju 87" published by Crowood. There's also a translation of Manfred Griehl's book "Junkers Ju 87 Stuka" published by Airlife, but the translation is rather tiresomely wooden.

Clearly the normal angle of dive was 70 degrees although they sometimes went nearer the vertical, and pushed their luck on the pull-out. Early on they rolled on to their backs and pulled through into the dive, but later in the war simply pushed over nose first. Look out of the side window and line up the relevant line of the etched "protractor" so that it is parallel to the horizon. Then return to looking at the target in front of the nose. Ships are best attacked from dead astern.
