Question on Mods and HSFX - psychobob - 16.02.2010

I finally made the plunge and installed HSFX all the way through 4.11. Got it up and running then proceeded to install my a/c mods from U.I. 1.2. Tried to run Il-2 and got a 60% CTD. After systematically disabling each a/c mod and trying to run, I found that the PZL 24's and the new P-35 mods (which ran great on U.I.) were causing the CTD. I thought HSFX was supposed to be the eventual replacement for the Unified Installers, but am I to understand that some mods included in the old U.I. will not run on HSFX? :???:

Some mods were not in HSFX because these mods came out during the beta testing of HSFX. These people cannot just stop their testing and try to implement new mods because there can me conflicts that can take a long time.

I totally understand that not every mod works with every other mod. What I thought was odd was that mods included in U.I. 2.1 would not work in HSFX, even though some here are saying that HSFX includes U.I. 2.1.

Sorry for my confusion, and it is not a criticism. I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong.

Hi,

Man, we're all in this together! Smile

Okay, guys are using the MODS folder that they create in HSFX and placing mods there. I have not yet added any aircraft mods to the HSFX so I am not certain how to add aircraft at this point, but someone recently did it. He posted somewhere about it. Of course, if we were genius coders and the like, then we could do almost anything.

Anyway, I hope this sheds a little more light and hope on the situation for you. Smile

Big Grin

Create a MODS folder and use the SAS buttons!

Also with HSFX we have well over 400 plus planes. Give those a try .

You can add any mod-including planes-by making a MODS folder and using the SAS buttons. Big Grin

skyomish and fireskull, thanks I am really excited about HSFX. Although I have been playing Il-2 since the original was released, I am by no means an expert at programming. I don't know much about buttons files and SAS's stuff. I will keep messing around with all the mods around here and see what works (I just got a 1TB hard drive to play with!)

I continue to be amazed at the work going on around here, especially having followed the game so long.

Thanks again.

I have the B29 Silverplate in my mods folder... so as the abomb effects will be visable... also F4U-4 (only eye candy with F4u-1 physics).. works good..

as for--- SAS buttons, I never could understand what it means.. my buttons on my stick work just fine!! I've yet to see a webpage to clarify or explain SAS buttons..

later

Scotty, SAS buttons has nothing to do with joystick buttons. The "buttons" file is a file the game uses for Flight Modeling. If there is more than one of these files in the game's folder, or the one that's there is not correct for the planes in the game, the game will crash at 60% loading. Hence the need for the correct buttons file if one is adding planes to the game.

Still confused about SAS buttons, where they are, and what to do with them. Since I started modding my Il2 with AAA stuff a year ago, I have added almost every new plane and never had to think or worry about buttons. When I went with HSFX and started adding planes like the J7W1 and Wellington, I still never had to worry about SAS buttons. Are these magical buttons automatically updated or deleted when you add planes?
