X52 Problem This device has not been profiled.. - Maico - 24.02.2010

I just reinstalled my OS and now X52 will now work. I am on XP again as before. I cant create a new profile or anything.... Any ideas?

Did you reinstall the X52 drivers and the SST software?

- Maico - 25.02.2010

Only about six times. LOL I have used the old software and the latest. Still I get this message.

The device has not been profiled sounds a lot like the song 'The device has been modified'

- Maico - 25.02.2010

Sorry man, its the same as before. I dont posess the skill to modify one. I have never seen this, my mobo just dont like it.

I use the X52 also and just recently did a recovery on my PC. Question. Did you do a recovery with the option of keeping a backup of what was on your PC before or did you do a complete wipe?

If you kept a backup, you should be able to pull the profile you had before and drop it into your X52 folder and use the profiler to load it back up to your joystick.

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers?
I recall somewhere along the line, Saitek changed the drivers, and the profile extension changed from .DAT to .Pr0 or something, and then back to .DAT. It forced me to do my entire profile over again.

- Maico - 25.02.2010

Downloaded latest drivers, reloaded about 12 times, Put feathers on my head and danced around three times. Nothing works. I really want to start a fire and throw it in! Unbeleivable how crappy this is.

Well, I don't want to send you right over the edge, so this is my last obvious question...I promise...

Have you tried plugging the device into different USB port?

- Maico - 25.02.2010

He he he, I will try to keep my cool. Big Grin I did try different USB ports. I also tried to load the drivers from the disk. Even read the instructions. They said to load the Drivers first then load the SST. I believe somewhere something is stuck.... I even went to Saitek's web site and DL thier IL2 profile. When I put the file in the C/Saitek/Software file, it does not work. The files I backed up before reformatting dont work either. Ok, that is not so bad. I am willing to take the time to make my profile from scratch. However, I cant even do that. As soon as I try to Load any profile I get the dreaded message. Even if I try to create a profile I get this message.
Should I Edit my Registry? Maybe if I remove the Saitek file and start over.... Does anyone know how to do this? I am really sorry to be such a whiner. It's just that my new PC is now useless. I refuse to fly without a proper profile. In all these years, its the first time Saitek has let me down.
Thanks for trying to help. I am sure somewhere along the line I will get sorted.

Cheers.

Easy enough to get rid of the files; just delete them and then clean out the registry just to make sure. Then start over again from scratch.

Yeah, I finally got a resolution to my problem. I needed to update runtime app from microsoft. This did the trick and now I have the latest software installed. However my old profiles dont work with the new software. I guess you cant have it all.

Thanks for all the advice and patience.
