i was thinking- could anybody develop a mod that applied tracer smoktrails like these i know in some respects they look surreal, but could someone try to give it a go. (love to see the results)

Tracers like that (in 3D) would surely crash out the game.

Closest thing is my 3D 20mm cannon spiralsmoke trail which Philip.ed mentioned, or HG,P&W's .50cal smoke (Available on SAS).
Oh and somewhere must be a slightly adjusted HG,P&W 3D smoketrail for the italian guns, by Sneeke.

For the rest, you'll have to be content with the current available 2D tracer smoke mods available I guess.
It's not easy to make a tracersmoke mod as you want it, because the IL2 game engine will not allow it without running into lots of trouble.

Otherwise, feel free to try and make one yourself.

while we're on the subject i was also thinking that someone could (I can't because im not an expert) have a go at developing something similar to what ive described (or even fires and damage in the cockpit)

:?: I'm not really understanding you here. There are already smoke-effects mods, and cockpit damage has always been possible...

However, if you are comparing this to WoP, then maybe it'd be best to purchase WoP here? I mean I much prefer Il-2, but some things just aren't possible in this game. Even though WoP uses the same engine, it is very much updated

I think you may have to be more specific with what you are asking for. HG and co are our masters of effects here, so perhaps they are best qualified to answer this

what i mean is have smoke or fire inside the fuselage of the plane, or holes and cracks in the canopy that can be seen from the external view something like when in the film battle of britain the british could be seen fishing men out of a heinkel with a cracked canopy[/img]

Search for a gore mod; that allows you to see external bullet holes. As for the othe stuff, I'm not qualified to say...sorry
