Nice for you people who like vehicles, but I'd love to see some hurri videos
although that wire-effect is pretty cool
Nice choice of images, Turul - Fireskull - 05.03.2010
The flexing antenae show the complex Physics 3D Engine - wonderful! Much potential is obvious with that in other objects. I like the doors and smooth pivoting of objects, too. The rivets are even 3D now!
[Added later:] Ooops! On close examination, the rivets are actually flush, or even, with the graphically created panel, but are shadowed so well that they look 3D!

Also, finally there is an official theme song for SOW:
It's No Game (Part 2)
Silhouettes and shadows
watch the revolution
No more free steps to heaven
Just walkie-talkie - heaven or hearth
Just big heads and drums - full speed and pagan
And it's no game
I am barred from the event
I really don't understand the situation
So where's the moral
People have their fingers broken
To be insulted by these fascists
it's so degrading
And it's no game
Documentaries on refugees,
couples 'gainst the target
Throw a rock against the road,
and it breaks into pieces
Draw the blinds on yesterday,
and it's all so much scarier
Put a bullet in my brain,
and it makes all the papers
And it's no game
Children round the world,
put camel shit on the walls
They're making carpets on treadmills,
or garbage sorting
And it's no game

OMG this looks awesome and does that mean that I can drive that Tank thing around aswell? Plus I also know what that very historical lighthouse is and I believe I have a picture of it with a Jet flying by. See if I can find it and put it up.

Hi,
Technically, it is an amoured car. This only wets my appetite for more!

I like the detail we are seeing on the ground objects, but I definately don't want to see a jazzed up version of Battlefield 1942.. I want this to be the mother of all WWII air combat games.. I'm going to buy it for that, not some flippin shoot em up.
RE: Trooper - Fireskull - 06.03.2010
Oh, Trooper, I feel that it would be fun to man an AA at an airfield when I am under attack there. Wouldn't it be fun to shoot the snot out an attacker over your own base with an Anti Aircraft gun? Next, you would hop in a fighter and go dogfight, or something.
The way I see, there will be squadrons with different styles of missions on their servers. Some of them will only allow players to fly planes, perhaps. Others will have more. Wouldn't that be great for the simulation? Some would have all the basics-that's exciting to me.

Nasty case of aluminium corrosion on that Heinkel.

I know what you are saying mate, but for me, no, I'm sorry.. it wouldn't be great.. I want this game to take my experience of WWII aviation gaming a stage further as a pilot.. I'm not going to buy the game so I can take part in airfield defence, or drive a tank.. I've got other games for that.
I want Oleg and his team to spend time and effort to give us the best combat flight sim there is to date.. not waste valuable time making cannons and vehicles drivable.
Pilots during WWII didn't man flak guns and then decide, 'I know, now I'll jump in a plane and be a pilot for awhile'.. If Oleg spends time making this game into a Battlefield 1942 event, then we will all suffer the consequences.. can you imagine how long it will take to make expansions and patches available if he is also putting more drivable tanks and working guns into the game? I pray to god he doesn't go down that road..

I feel that opening it to be able to operate vehicles with guns will make it more popular and draw more money for the aviation aspect of it further in the series.
To be able to switch to first person infantry would draw thousands more to try it on top of that. After all, the name Storm of War implies
more. Look at the Theatre of War series where there was collaboration with another company. I believe that Storm of War will replace it and be far superior.
On strictly a business decision, Storm of War would generate much more gross sale if control of ground units was included. For the fraction of the investment to make them operable, it would create a return on the investment of many fold.
It looks to me as though SoW is headed toward becoming vastly superior to all previous World War Two games and simulations. Pal, I do not think you have to worry about quality with the kind of experience and development that 1C: Maddox Games is revealing.

Don't worry, Oleg has said he will be focusing on the Flight sim aspect of SoW.
What he is doing now is making sure that third party developers will be able to add drivable vehicles to the sim, and potentially controllable ships and infantry too, but he knows he cannot invest the resources to do this himself. So he is showing ambition, but not allowing it to run away with him.
Also, Oleg has said that imediately after BoB releases he will be working on another theatre of combat, and he has hinted it will share much of its planeset with BoB. Sounds like either the Battle of France or the early part of the war in the Med. The later sounds more likely to me because of all the Italian planes he has put into BoB, despite their very small contribution to that battle. Either way, it will be good.
