Kill Recording Problem - Flovenz - 13.03.2010

Hello
I would like to start by thanking everyone for their work regarding this site and the available files.

I have a question, that I am hoping some of you gentlemen know the answer to. IL2 does not seem to accurately record my Kills. It either does not acknowledge the fact that I shot down an aircraft (kill not recorded at all) or it attributes my kills to other pilots.

Does anyone know why this happens ?

Should be available in patch 4.10 (at the end of this month):

In russian fired means dropped...

I am not talking about this addon but the default.

I shoot down a plane and at the end of the mission the de-breifing will say Lieutenant "someone-else" shot down a plane!

well, it almost sounds like your talking about the AI stealing your kills. Unless the aircraft is catastrophically damaged after your attack, the AI pilots may put a bullet or two into your victim, giving them credit for the kill and not you. It works both ways tho, if you slide a few rifle caliber rounds into a plane the AI has killed (even missing a wing, just the last bullets before lawn darting) and you will get the kill. Let me know if this helps.

Hey, is the screen on top coming in the 4.10 patch or is this an addon thats out there for download?

It should be included in the upcoming 4.10 patch.

It's the same thing as online. Never leave your pray flying when it is smoking. You have to make sure no-one steals it.

LOL, absolutely right, even if that means using a couple more 30mm shells then you really wanted to! Tongue

I disagree; especially if flying as a team. Obviously a puff of smoke doesn't mean a kill, but you should never single one out and follow it down. If working in a team, aim to damage and move on. That extra time when you are singly focused on getting that one A/C could be the moment you get jumped on.

However, if you're going for the American-Ace-Pilot idea, then do whatever you want Tongue If you really want the kill, you are going to have to makesure it crashes/blows-up. Just make sure you watch your six Tongue

thats a good point. If you are escorting bombers at 30k then following an enemy down to ground level to make sure he is dead is counter productive since it will take so long to climb back up to the bombers. That is probably why so many pilots escorting heavies over the reich had many probables and damaged aircraft to their credit. At low level, focusing to much on a single even it liable to get you killed too, from the bad guy you don't see. But I do make it practice when online to make sure they are killed dead the first time, I hate when a damaged foe I had writtin off comes back and waxes by bottom. It also depends on the server too, last night flying on a barbarossa map I was flying my trusty Mig-3 (LAUGH!) and encountered a 109 at co-alt (3000m or so) I made one pass on him, observed engine smoke, and kept right on a going at altitude. I figured a damaged 109 was better then my dead Mig if I got into a turning fight with him below 6500m or so. Later on in the mission I got the kill as he pranged on the landing, so I guess you never know.

Well I am literally talking about AI stealing my kills. This particularly happens with DCG campaigns. It sometimes gives me fighter kills, but never gives me bomber kills (even if I was the only allied aircaft in the area and blew the enemy plane to pieces). I have tested this left-right-and-center and excluded any possible causes such as a wingman having finished him of or put a few bullets in the enemy. This appears to be a bug. Has anyone else experienced this ?
