About your beatiful maps - wimsma - 19.03.2010

I like to build my own campaigns in the late hours after my work. Only for my own enjoyment. You maps are great..... Maybe you could put some attention on 2 little request...

Please post the last version of your chaco map (3.0) as a single complete download. I still have problems reinstalling the old map.

Maybe you could post some template with frontlines during the Sino-Japanese war of your beautiful Hankow map. It's difficult to find good info

Keep up the good work!!!

Hello again! Installed your new version and I can't save or play saved missions (created with the earlier version). The univ. static.ini checker tells me I miss these: buildings.House$GuyOtterBr
buildings.House$46LWBoxload
Any clues as to their origin (pack, map) most welcome!
Thanks again,

When searching my own static.ini I came up with this entry:

I don't know what the name of the mod is though.

I don't have that info myself, but if anyone can get it to me, I'd be happy to add it to the FMB maps or make alternate FMB maps ...

Here's a re-upload of the entire Chaco v3 map, textures and all. Hope this one works for you. This upload was probably slightly altered compared to last upload of a while ago. I can't help making small changes to my own maps now and then and I think that in this version I changed some mountain textures around.

Thanxs - wimsma - 19.03.2010

Chaco map is oke now. Thanxs AG! South America in a pre war...1938-1941 or post war 1945-1949 is a real good inspiration!!

These airfields are very well made...as well as the "haciendas". Problem occured on some rivers...were you could not fly o water level. Wonder if this has benn cured.

Thanxs again

Thanks for the answer; I did find that mod, it is Fisneaky's transport mod; I installed it, added relevant lines to static.ini but no results; the universal static.ini checker informs me that all objects are there; I shall continue searching...

Buses are used for static objects? Are they really necessary for a map?
I mean, mission builders can add objects like that later.
Makes me wonder what other unusual objects are in the static.ini.
Can we just have some basic objects that come with the standard UI?
I only have UI 1.1.1 so that may be my problem.

Whomever did the populating for this map I must say you did a very good job but unfortunately it's not working for alot of people. It does no good if you can't save missions on the map because of some missing objects.

Perhaps a list of the unusual static objects and where they can be downloaded would help??

I've been busy re-working one of my own maps but I'll open this Hankow map and see what's going on.

I've used lots of templates from the Quick Object Tool. This is a sort of collection of ready made templates for things like (parts of) airbases, supply depots, tent camps, harbors, industrial installations, anti-aircraft positions, roadblocks, trench emplacements and so ... it's very handy and the templates from Quick Object Tool are much better made than anything I could do. And it saves heaps of time as well as bringing needed variation into object placement.

I know in any case that on my own, I never use stationary objects like vehicles or ships when making maps, but if these are included in the Quick Object Tool templates, then they will be used since templates are copied in their entirety.

I know that with my older 4.09 installation, you had to manually install many of these objects as mods, but with UP2.0 which I now currently use, I am quite certain these objects are part of the standard install.

I'll see however if I can find the older install packs for this.

Quick object toll uses only stock objects. Those busses and cars does not affect to actors.static size, but they can be removed with notepad from mis.file before adding them to actors. But it would t take some time.

I apologize if my above post sounded so rude. I got to thinking about what I wrote and realized it's probably my fault for not having the latest UI or HSFX installed. Guess I was just a little frustrated for not being able to load the map.
Populating this map took a lot of effort, even if it was just adding templates. I should appreciate your work and not be so fast to criticize. Thank you for this map and I'll try to get updated asap.

- agracier - 20.03.2010

No big deal. Just because a post is short doesn't mean it's rude. It wasn't.

But just to let members know. The templates from Quick Object Tool were used sparingly in this map. They'll mostly be found around airfields. I usually use existing airfields, copy and paste into new maps and then modify them in any number of ways - adding a template for a supply depot, or a tent camp or a checkpoint or whatever, changing the groundplates from concrete into brown earth for instance, adding a fence or whatever. So after a while elements from a template are carried into other maps without knowing.

The urban populating of the map and especially all the lovely villages and hamlets were done by Riptide, a member who has lots of patience and good insights into how to use central European objects look like they belong in central China ...

But you're right about the populating though. The actors is 3mb, which is quite large all things considered. Still the map is very sparsely populated because it covers such a large surface area without any ocean or sea areas.

Back again; the message I get from the shift&Tab combination is "Cannot load Buildings/46/Warehouse_cargo". Strange thing is - as I already said - that the univ. static.ini checker finds no missing objects from the map. I had a look at Canon's objects again, but could not find that particular "46Warehouse-cargo" (I found the 46/Warehouse that I already have in my static.ini). Does it ring any bells, anybody? Thanks again,
