Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 and Windows 7. - HH_Harley - 26.03.2010

It installed just fine through the main usb ports to the motherboard. The feedback is weak, but use-able. But I don't have the software/drivers for this, my friend lost his disk. I've found the drivers and software for it, and tried to install them with a win98 compatibility, but got direct x errors on the installation for some reason, so it won't continue installing.

Any of you have it working? I have the 32bit version of win7.

But can you adjust the level of feedback? It works for me too, but I can't adjust the force of the feedback.

Hi HH
Don't forget to add the line: joyUse=1 in the chapter [rts]

[rts]
;ProcessAffinityMask=1
mouseUse=2
joyUse=1
trackIRUse=1
DisableIME=0
locale=fr

See you!

- HH_Harley - 27.03.2010

yeah, have it set to that, just more concerned about the force of the feedback and having the ability to increase it.

- jplebig - 27.03.2010

I'm afraid it's quietly impossible, and there is nothing about this joy on Microsoft, they let down this sort of device a couple of years.
I 've found a soft on AAA to increase or decrease the force, I don't remember the name of this soft, I try to give a pair of neurons to my brain and I wish I can help you.
See you

Hi All,
I run IL2 on Win7 64bits with my MSFT sidewinder Feedback Force 2. Everything worked well until these last days when I lost the feedback force during the game. the most of thime I lost the feedback force when I pull the trigger.

I try to reinstall everything and tune the FF, nothing to do... Everytime I pull the trigger, I lost the feedback force.

Is somebody met this problem?

Microsoft Sidewinder Lost Feedback Force with IL2 - J_Hartikka - 15.05.2010

Hi!

Yes, at least my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro has a tencency to lose its feedback force with IL2 in Win XP. Usually only the centering force is left and the FF effect lost.

Almost always when hitting the Windows key to jump momentarily out of the IL2 sim and then returning to IL2 the FF effect is lost.

Also sometimes when starting IL2 it will start with FF effect lost and centering force only active. The stock 4.09m IL2 has less problems with losing Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback effect. The UP 201 mod pack loses the Sidewinder FF effect almost every time I start it. I do not know how to fix The Lost Sidewinder FF effect problem... Sad

Re: Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 and Windows 7. - greypeace - 27.07.2010

HI all,
I just finished my USB additional box for IL2(8/16 buttons,calls to Coms with ONE key press,Rudder hall effect with car pedals (easy mechanics),in all :5 extra axis 4 of which are 10 bits,1 is 8 bits)
I am now trying to sort out the Force Feedback protocol in order to use it for other things than
shaking from the guns or for crash or rolling bumps
Just speed sensing for stick and rudder and stick shaking near stall
Has anybody tried his hand in FF ?? I need the protocol (could one ask the designers ?)
I would be very interested to exchange USB device programming tips and sources
I use only Microchip 18F2455 series(the old type of chips not the square ones)
