I mainly used Paint fill and airbrush, then the "Cartoon" tool to get that comic book effect.

you might want to try inkscape aswell

Looks like an horrible filterrape. Try and avoid doing similar stuff.

I hesistated to post the same... Maybe you are right, and this isn't the best work put on the almighty God's Earth, but then there's a more friendly way of putting it.
