Barbie III - aviatorsneah - 01.04.2010

B-25H Barbie III from 1st Air Commando Group (China Burma India Theater)

Anyone want this skin? Big Grin

I did this for our head of maintenance at work who used to be in charge of maintaining Barbie III at our airport when it was based there. He fabricated a lot of the parts himself to get it restored (including the fully-functional, blank-firing 75mm cannon in the nose Tongue Tongue ). It now resides in Arizona. I was lucky enough to get a free ride in it while it was here. Only H model in existence.

Fabulous good painting Aviatorsneah ! 8) Most excellent.
I always loved those Burma Theater aircraft with the pin-stripes running down the back.
Always a classy classic.

Please post the skin if you want to,
I will collect it and fly it on my next missions.

Thanks!
Cheers
MAX

Oh, yes please! Big Grin I love B-25H variant... and as Max pointed out, those Burma schemes are a classic for a very good reason: those stripes rules!

Back in 1996, I used to keep my '46 Ercoupe over at Tamiami airport, Kendall Florida. That's a suburb of Miami.
A shop there was working on my plane. I was out there, when this beautiful B-25 with the name, BARBIE III, comes taxiing in. Not sure why. Anyway, I'm walking around the airplane, marveling at it, when I notice something under the left wing.
I called over one of the guys, who came in with it. I said, "Look up there...you're leaking something, I think."
He didn't look happy! They went and grabbed a ladder, and sure enough, fuel leak. I don't like being the bearer of dad news, and just, sort of, slinked away.
It really is a terrific restoration.
The pilot of the original one, R.T. Smith, also flew a P-51A, called "Barbie." His wife, I guess.
