Silly me ( sounds in hsfx 4.1) - pistitom - 16.04.2010

Hi, I have a question on how to install Jafa's sounds into hsfx 4.1 ....I've done this already once but uninstalled the game and now I can't remember where I placed the files...I suppose the samples go into main folder/samples but the presets folder ?? Forgot the location...put it in Files folder, not working...I know I have a bad memory, sorry about that.... Sad Sad Sad
thx in advance for the info...

Put both folders in the files folder and see if that works.

I just made a mods folder and put them there. Big Grin I'm currently trying to merge Jafa's mod with the Distant Sound Mod. It works, but it's not perfect. The only thing I don't like about Jafa's sounds is that I can't hear my guns too well when in the cockpit Wink

@philip.ed: If you are successful, i would love to know how to do that myself Big Grin

After reading lots and lots (and lots) of posts, i developed this method for modding HSFX:

I put all add-on planes and cockpits in the "MODS" folder, all new sounds on the files folder and for all other mods i put them in "jsgmemods" that way i can activate/deactivate them as needed and also test for compatibility.

Also, in the mods folder i set the upgrades using the method of adding a "0" in front, in example, i merged all the skyrider files (cockpit and plane) together, but that made IL2+HSFX crash, so i separated them in "0_Skyrider" and "1_Skyrider" (first one for the plane, second for the cockpit) and it works just fine now.

Yep, I have a MODS folder myself, but, You know, Jafa's sound mod is divided into engine type folders with one preset and several sample files for each engine ( sakae, merlin, etc...) that's why I don't know where to put the files...( I wish I knew how I did it the first time- probably by accident :o :o :o :o )
thx guys Big Grin

Alemart, I copied all of JAFA's presets folder over DSM's as I prefered that, and then I picked out all the motor files from the samples folder from JAFA's folder to DSM's. It works but isn't perfect.

Unfortunately, the gun sounds are quite low in the cockpit. Wink

I see, so basically you made jafa sounds with dsm configs right?, is the low gun sound the only issue you have?.
Thanks for the explanation! ^_^

Yep, the only noticeable one. note though that i am only flying spits and hurris Wink They are all I have tested Big Grin

I will now try the DSM on it's own and then see which I prefer Wink I have to say though that the environmental signs with JAFA's engine sounds are something special Wink

I have yet to test both mods Tongue, bot i do have seen some videos of them XD
