Running problem Direct X. - Kohler - 25.04.2010

Ok. So i have AMD Phenom X550 II Dual core, 2gb ram and a ATI Radeon HD3850 VGA graphics card.

Game will not run on OpenGL for some reason and if it does.. lag is terrible.. computer simply cant run it.
But if i play it with directX the game is heavier for the computer to play and i cant enjoy the smooth il2 anymore.

So what to do with the problem.. i wanto get the OpenGL back.

Whats the stats on your graphics card?

- Kohler - 25.04.2010

Video RAM 512.0 MB
Hardware T&L Yes
Pixel Shader version 3.0
Vertex Shader version 3.0

Video card has the memory, I assume the clock rates are ok.

Try this:

Open you CONF.ini file located in your Il-2 root folder, opening it with note pad.

next scroll down till it says:

"Render_OpenGL"

Next find "Water"

Change what ever it is, to '0'

Set effects to '1'

Save it with CTRL+S and then go enable Open GL in game

Now try it. If all else fails come back here and we shall go do some mundo tweakin'

it can be done,Optimizing ATi for IL-2. Lots of tweaking and replacing dll's

what drivers are you using?

I just extracted atioglxx.dl_ file from the 9.3 drivers, moved that file to main game folder, and all is well...

here is the file for you

Ok.. I changed the Conf.ini but no changes.. the game lag's even in menu.

and drivers are newest.

Prehaps this problem has something to do with my multi core processor?

Nope, did you try my method?

check and make sure you have anisotropic off or at a very low setting.

I only say this because I can turn my Anti-Aliasing crazy high(MS SLI16x) and see some fps hit (about 15-20%). Then I can turn most settings down, but turn Anisotropic Filtering up about halfway, x8, and I get a massive fps hit

So before you start trouble shooting your system and drivers, go into your ATI control panel or whatever program your using for setup and look at where its set.

ps. some modern games like MW2 and BC2 will NOT run properly if you turn this setting completly off.

- Kohler - 26.04.2010

I dont think the problem is on the graphics card.
Because after i got my self new processor (AMD Phenom II X550 dual core)
And a new motherboard, this lag started to happen.. maybe something to do with dual core?

in that case, if you think its your cpu, Have you tried changing your proccessor affinity in your .config. its in the [rts] section. make sure to remove the ";" from in front of it. this turns it off the same way adding a "-" in front of a mod in the old Mod folder before HSFX.

ProcessAffinityMask=15, that is what I use on a quad core, it is the code to make all 4 cores run IL-2, there are many forums on the differnt setting. you can find the best one for you at M4T in their knowledge base section. the have a great config explaination and go over the ProcessAffinityMask settings you should be using

btw, have you ran any other games, is this a IL-2 problem, or a computer problem. if its a computer problem, all the config changes in the world arent going to work, you will have to look other directions
