Freezing when in outside view - liamp51 - 28.04.2010
Hi all,
Just lately when my plane is damaged or an AI plane is damaged the game will freeze when I try to view it in F2 view. Does anybody know what this might be? It just started happening a few days ago. Could it be because of dust in the computer?
Thanks,

Open up your computer and check. After cleaning the dust my comp runs 30 degrees less in heat.

Cleaning dust is never a bad idea, but your problem is more likely to come from software, maybe a graphic effects conflict.
I had a similar trouble myself. I've played with almost every version of Il2 (stock, 4.09, UI, HSFX and UP) and, in some configurations, it happened that a plane crashing onto the ground caused the game to crash, too.
Since I started using the Generic Mod Enabler, this happened once in a while, but only after i had changed something. So, strange as it may seem, i got the impression that simply installing mods IN A DIFFERENT ORDER solves the problem.
I still suffer crashes, but much less often.
Hope this helps!

It only seems to happen when planes are on fire or smoking. Other wise, it doesn't seem to happen. It's only happened in the last few days. I haven't installed any new mods though.

Do you know that it's f**cking chilly outside the aircraft at 30 000 feet? No surprise that your compi freezes
Sorry, couldn't resist

LOL, well I'll try to figure it out, might be very frustrating though.

This is weird. Were the crashes caused by fire/smoke effects, the game should crash both in external or internal view. Nevertheless, you could try to remove effects mods only and see if crashes persist in stock mode. If not, you know the problem is in effect mods, and you can try to reinstall them in a different order. If not, there's something else.
...oh, and since you already dusted, try also running an antivirus scan and/or a scandisk, which never hurts! 8)

Sorry for the long response. ALWAYS RESTART YOUR COMPUTER! I did that and walla! The game worked fine!
