To use perfect mode, you must also turn on the stencil buffer in Setup. Make sure in Setup you also select OpenGL
and use a 32 Bit resolution.

I already have those turned on. Whereabouts is this "perfect mode" option located?

Go to your conf.ini, in the end there is render.OpenGL, there is water=number, make it water=4 on Nvidia GPUs and water=2 on ATI GPU.
Then lower other settings like landgeometry and so on.

Don't forget Hardwareshaders=1.

That card will not play IL2 on max settings... You know that don't you?

i didnt know that...oh well, i turned down my landgeom, shading, and landdetail and everything appears to be fine.

Try running water=0 if you have a low end card. The water won't be as nice as =4, but it will still look very nice and run much better.
