Which Map to use ?? - Deathsight - 09.05.2010

Hi guys

I'm thinking about building up a mission about the destruction of the Battleship Tirpitz when she was anchored ( or docked ) in a Norwegian harbor ( or Naval Base ) as part as my campaign being built right now, still a work in progress right now.

Anyway, the problem right now has to do with the Norwegian Map where I can't even put a stationary ship of any type in the average fjords, I already tried and still won't do. Is there a map I could use instead of it ?? If so, which one would be an interesting choice from your points of view ?? I'd insist on the part with putting snow on the map during winter and a possibility to make it back to the UK in case of a problem.

So, yeah, I'm now needing some advice on this one, I'd really need a map good enough to get a Tirpitz class Battleship in a Norwegian harbor in Winter.

Can anyone help me out on this ??

It'd be a bummer if I couldn't use this type of mission, I'm already done with the 32th mission and very close now to completeing the work, and after all that working on this. Sad

It can be tough to place ships too near the shoreline on some maps, but you can hack it with Windows Notepad, if you are patient. (you must be if you're building campaigns) Simply place a substitute object where you want the ship, and also place the ship you want there somewhere nearby. Save mission, then open in Notepad, find the substitute object, and the ship you want to place, and copy and paste the coordinates from the substitute to the ship, then delete the substitute (or leave it in case needed again later)

This also works for moving ships, using the substitute object to mark waypoints for the moving ship.

If Norway doesn't work for you, Murmansk might do.

Hi Deathsight,

There are several Tirpitz missions at M4T. See here:

There is also a new version of the Norway map that has been altered in such a way that makes it possible to place moving and stationary ships in the fjords, at least in the larger ones.

I think, it's this one by GilB57:

Hope this is helpful.

I guess I'll try it again, wasn't sure if it could be done for now.

EDIT: Thanks guys, it does work in the end, it was still kindda tricky but could be done. Sorry about the trouble though. Big Grin
