If your going to skin a new building, I request...

- A new PUB
- A dancing theater (complete with USO dancing girls and Tommy Dorsey swing music ! )
- A naughty brothel  (every airbase town has one complete with Madame FiFi and 12 gorgeous girls)
- A ZOO (we need more chimps in IL-2)
- A Gas station to put next to the airbase !
- A retirement home for crashed pilots to rest.

Good luck and have fun with these ! ... if you don

Excellent job mate. I have seen that Pub building before on another post.
Very nice paint work on it. Real good. Congrats on it!
We need more Pubs and restaurants and stores in the IL-2 towns. It always adds
more life to the scenes.
Your doing a great job! Thank you

BTW max you can find your dance band Here

Thanks Fisneaky Big Grin
Even tho I sold my soul to Rock n Roll  ... I do love to listen to some old Big Band music
from the WW2 era.
It gets me " in the mood" for flying in a dogfight in the IL-2 game. I hope you enjoy it too.

Hi Fisneaky
I want to open the image files for Buildings\Houses etc in "Objects" FMB but dont Know how.
I just want to take existing image and add new skin or change generally.
I am not very tech minded so please try to explain in Lay terms.
Which software do I use and when done how do I save into game?
I would really appreciate your help with this.
Also the same info for Vehicles if possible.
Thanks Mate
Keith :-)

You need to use photo-editing software such as photoshop or Gimp to open the graphics files. They will most likely be TGA files so when you finish modifying them they should be saved as a TGA file and returned to the folder where the game has them stored unless you are trying to develop new buildings from the ingame models in which case you will need to modify some of the ini files in order to have them as new objects. Hope this helps. There are quite a few formats that games use for their graphic representations these include TGA, BMP, JPEG, DDS to name a few also be aware that some graphics files have Alpha layers associated with them. It would be good to have a manual for you photo editing software plus another on game graphics.

Hi 041 Safety Wire
Thanks for reply and advice buddy.
I use Gimp for Skinning anyway but was wondering how I extract the TGA files,Which folder they are located in and what software if any I will need to extract files with.
I know about cloning and re-naming the static.ini file but just need to know where and how to Extract TGA's.
Thanks again Mate.
Regards
Keith :-)

You need to locate the sfs extractor to be able to unpack textures from the sfs files in the main directory. Then if you follow the file structure for the game you can put them in the mods folder when you finish your work. Game loads from mods folder first and then sfs files.
