High altitude flying - Sean2323 - 12.06.2010
ok, i know you've heard this
so im doing a mission with high altitude bombing... my sqaud is going up there at over 300 km/h, but no matter what prop pitch, mixture, or power setting, i cant seem to match there climb rate. and if i start really high, i cant stay high, again i use prop pitch, engine power, and mixture settings, to no prevail, can anyone offer any help to me?
(i understand the site is under construction so it'll take a little while to answer, take ur time, its the weekend and im up til 12
)

Full power, full prop pitch, lower mixture. I have no problems up there. Ask your squadmates what settings do they have if you fall behind.

A key piece of information missing is 'What Plane are you flying?'
Re: High altitude flying - Sean2323 - 13.06.2010
well, im in the 305thBG so we mostly fly the B-25, or the B-17, i do training with the AI so... i cant really ask them what settings
well thanks.
also the fighters i fly are FW-190, all varients, and BF-109 all varients, and the one i fly the most, the YP-80, or with mods, the F-80c

Well, one big problem is the AI will not automatically engage the Super Chargers.
As for the fighters, German planes in this game (except for the TA-152H), SUCK above 23,000 ft. and become practically useless above 25,000 ft.
HVY Group fly predominately US Bombers.
The settings we use for the B-17 are as follows:
16 x 500lb load
30% fuel
Prop Pitch 100%
90-95% Power on initial climb.
Superchargers 2 at 13,000ft
Mix 80% at 20,000ft.
Power 103% from 20,000 to 25,000ft.
Power 90% for cruise, Prop Pitch 96%
Drop speed will be about 280mph TAS, Angle 31deg, Alt 25,120ft.
Give that a shot and see how you do.

The feet->Meters are roughly divided by 3. You should start using them in the game as almost all of the aviation world uses feet.

You can change the speed bar in game so you cycle though and get a rough idea.
