[Download] Eastern Promise - 1941 Campaign for Syväri Map! - Poltava - 13.06.2010

I have built this campaign prompted by the simple fact that Kapteeni has made an excellent historical map of the area between the Ladoga and the Onega, a place for heavy battles between Finns and Russians during WW2, especially in 1941.

It is a semi-historical, 14-mission static campaign, set during the summer and autumn of 1941. You are a pilot in Llv 28, a Finnish fighter squadron, equipped with the Morane-Saulnier 406, a French-designed mono-wing aircraft.



In 1939 the Soviet Union had invaded Finland, and after a long and brave struggle the greviously outnumbered Finns were forced to make peace, in March 1940, a peace that saved their independence but led to big territorial losses. When Germany attacked the Soviet Union in 1941 it was really only a matter of time until Finland would be dragged into this bigger conflict.



Acts of war between the two countries started the day the German invasion was launched. Open warfare began with a Soviet air offensive on 25 June 1941. Subsequent Finnish operations undid its post-Winter War cessations on the Karelian Isthmus and Ladoga Karelia and captured East Karelia by early October 1941.



This campaign tries to portray the battles in Ladoga Karelia and East Karelia.



Included in this campaign is 21 skins, made by the following skinners: IFE, VPMedia, Mangas, Tchaika, Matwej, Szomb, Jäger, Vongraz and Peter Shaw. Thanks guys for your super work! Without skinners no campaigns! The skins can be installed more or less automatically.



The missions in the campaign are various: interceptions, combat patrols, fighter sweeps, ground interdiction, escort, even one balloon busting mission!

I loved the Youtube video with english narration,I used that video as a reference when populating Käkisalmi and some other parts.
I will start to play right now!
