Crashes of IL-2 using Win 7 64-bit - Fireskull - 14.06.2010

Hi,

I have a friend with crashes of IL-2, screen, or Operating System-any of those three-at unexpected times. This happens mostly online in missions.

He has Windows 7 64-bit computer system with the ATI HD 5770 VGA.

Here is the link to the exact same computer and internal specifications that he has:

My friend increased his virtual memory by a couple gigs. The stock 4GB RAM seemed to be enough, but we still got him to set more virtual memory.

As I finished the last sentence above this, his IL-2 went black again after the increase in virtual memory.

He says that frame rates are smooth and image is fantastic. After trying low graphics settings, medium configurations, and perfect mode, these seem to make do difference. The crashes occur regardless of configuration.

Have you fixed this problem with your Windows 7 64-bit system? There must be a very specific solution to this, it seems to me.

Thanks ahead of time.

"went black again"?

Q1) can he run other 3d games without crash?

Q2) It's summer, have running temperatures been checked?

Q1 - Yes / Dirt2
Q2 - Yes / All temps normal

I'm glad that you found this thread to get the crashing fixed. Big Grin

Folks, this is my friend HRD, the guy with the challenge.

I have the exact same problem. I'm running an almost identical iBuyPower Win7 system to his but with 2 ATI HD5770's and 8GB of ram. Offline seems to be fine but online after a little while, maybe 20-30 minutes I get a random CTD with no warning or messages. It's really strange and annoying, hopefully someone can figure out what's going on.

What do you mean by 'challenge' may I ask? :-)

Installed 10.6 today and went back to blocky text - so I reinstalled 10.5!
What is the problem with ATI - Pain in the TUSH!

Just another random thought-

Have you tried running Il2 under Direct X to see if it still crashes?

Re: Crashes of IL-2 using Win 7 64-bit - hrdbomb - 18.06.2010

I can't get 'perfect' mode in DirectX.

Same, which is a deal-breaker for me if that's the problem, which I doubt because it would also happen in SP not just MP.

I was just thinking that to make a quick check to see if theres a problem on the Open GL drivers.
It's all a process of elimmination.

Hi,
I had a similar problem, but when I have played offline! I've tried several exe. files and had at the end no more problems with the 512 MB .exe!
Core i7 860
8 Gbyte RAM
Nvidia GTS 240
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

Hope it helps!

Good day, everyone

Here is the link for a download to get upto 1 GB maximum memory for IL-2, which is plenty. Keep in mind that this is recommended only for 64-bit system. (Added:Though some claim that it works with 32-bit)

Using UP 2.01 and the 4Gb 6DOF TrackIR exe... Already have that 1Gb one in JSGME so I'll try it.
