engine sound problem - BF-109 F4 - 28.06.2010
I didn't touch this game for half an year and i'm now back and just found an engine sound problem. Apparently all planes that use the M-62 engine samples have gone silent. I've checked the log list and and it appears that the M-62 .emd file which i think is located in the buttons file doesn't exist.
The problem isn't an old buttons file, after all the M-62 engine sounds are in the original IL2 untouched. Even so i downloaded the latest buttons file from SAS site just to make sure and the problem still persists. I've checked the samples and presets folders for the M-62 files and they are all there... :-?

It is not clear what version of the game you have: 4.08m, 4.09bm, 4,09m
and anything else like a pack, added or not... half a year is long time ago...
If using an activator without a pack, then which one. Nobody can answer
you're tech problem without knowing where you stand...

Sorry forgot to mention it. It's version 4.08m, i got 2 IL2 this one and a 4.09m. I think the last pack i installed were all those new BF-110's and P-38 LO's and others. I don't think that could interfere with the sounds. But the last thing i downloaded was the jeep as a playable unit. The fix Tater presented applies only for the 4.09m i know it and have been needing it. But it's my fault i forgot to mention my version, thank you anyways for help.
Erg./JG54_crazty If i understood well your fix gives new sounds for the game, if it's that the case i don't want to change my sounds but fix 1 engine sound that's all

Problem solved, Nope it wasn't the jeep mod. As i said before i have the version 4.09m too Tater, i got both versions in two different IL2's
The source of the problem was the buttons file. If i remember well the buttons file reads the presets folder files when a sound is needed, if it finds a match between the presets folder list and the list which is in the buttons file the sound is used. If there's any misspelling between the lists, even a dot or a letter making the difference the game thinks the file doesn't exist.
In the presets folder the M-62 engine file is called "motor.M-62_engine.prs", it always was. But i noticed almost all .prs files ended with the word "series", so i decided to rename the .prs file to "motor.M-62_series.prs" and amazingly it worked. It seems that the new button files preset lists have been changed which gave origin to this problem. I remember reading something about how the buttons file work long time ago, without it i probably would never think of this solution
Thank you all for help and patience to reply.
