how to install from UI 1.2 to HSFX? - Reiskorn01 - 01.07.2010
Hello there,
can somebody tell me what I should do. I have UI 1.2 installed on my PC. Now I read that
AAA is closed. Does this also mean the end of UI 1.2?
Or is HSFX the new version of UI 1.2?
I want to make the latest install. Can I install over UI1.2?
Please tell me what to do.
Best regards and thanks in advance

HSFX has the all of the old AAA UI and the UI 1.2 in it.
There will be no more UIs or updates to it.
I think you might be best to do another install and mod
That with HSFX and keep your UI install till you are happy
With the HSFX one.

Thanks Deutschmark,
do I need to install HSFX on a special Partition or could it be made in the same one
where the UI 1.2 is?
do you know if I can uninstall UI 1.2 without losing 4.09 in order to install HSFX insead of the uninstalled UI 1.2?
Then I could leave the folders as they are?
Thanks again for helping me
Best regards

For me I have 2 hard drives so set up on one or another is easy.
I would just levee the UI setup as you have it, do a new install
On another drive or partition of IL2 1946 the updates then TD
Updates then HSFX, if am not right here would someone please
Correct me to help out this person, all in all I would just start
New and keep your old UI till you are happy with the new install.

If you wish to save your copy of UI, just rename the folder it's in. Let's say it's called "Il2 1946"- rename it to "Il2 1946UI". Then you can move the folder to another location (outside of the Ubi folder). Then make a fresh install of Il2 1946.
Patch this install to official version 4.08.
Then patch to official 4.09m (NOT the modded version used for UI).
(You may at this point want to copy this 4.09m and move it to somewhere else safe, you will need this unmodded 4.09m when the next official patch in released, which is supposed to be soon.)
Now install HSFX to you install of 4.09m and patch it if needed to version 4.11.
HSFX uses a different file structure than UI. Most of the content is packed in .sfs files, like those of the original game, so that it loads much faster and runs smoother than UI.
The first thing you going to want to do is have a look inside the game's folder and find the folder called "HSFX V4 Tools and Readmes" and check out the various readmes. This will tell you how to enable HSFX and the other mods using JSGME (Jone's Generic Mod Enabler). You need to use this to enable HSFX. Otherwise your game will start by default in 4.09m.
If you decide that you just have to have certain mods from your UI install that don't seem to be included in HSFX, you have a couple of options;
1. Activate the "mods" folder inside the game's folder by removing the minus sign from in front of the folder name ( from "-Mods" to "Mods" and copy the mod into this Mods folder, just as you used to do to add most mods to UI. This usually works, but it can cause the game to load more slowly, and you will sometimes have a conflict with a previous mod.
2. Try putting the mod into the folder called "jsgmemods", also in the game's directory. Then open the JSGME utility using the icon in the game directory (it's a good idea to send this as a link to you desktop for easy access) and enable it using JSGME.
Good luck, I think you're going to like HSFX, I sure do.
