resolution size - 8FS_austin - 14.07.2010

hello all.

for the last few years iv been using pretty much the same resolution. 1152 x 864...
on my old 19" monitor i used 1280 x 960 but when upgraded to my new 22" LG flatron that resolution became no longer available and when i tried to put it in the config ini the game wouldn't start.

i know people are using bigger HD resolutions these days and id like to know how to set up a new one. i don't care much for the really high stuff but one reso size iv used for most other games is 1280 x 800. and im quite happy with that resolution and id like to know if i can use it with il2 and if so how to set it up.

any help?

thanks S~!

Hi, 8thFS_Austin

I am sure only about a few things with HD and resolution.

Many computer systems allow for much customization with screen resolution.

It is worth getting a screen which allows you to set the Refresh Rate of the screen to a level higher than the standard of 60 Hz. When you or if you use the Vertical Sync ON, then the higher monitor refresh rate will be matched to the frames per second of IL-2 when vertical sync is ON. Obviously the higher FPS will result in smoother image of IL-2 in 3D motion. For example, if your screen or monitor allows you to adjust refresh rate to 90 Hz, then when you have Vertical Sync ON, then IL-2 FPS will be matched to the 90 Hz, instead of the standard 60 Hz.

Look to see if you can increase the refresh rate on your screen.

The mechanical or electrical way in which the monitor or screen is connected to your computer can very depending mostly on your computer ports available and possibly the type of connection to the screen or monitor.

Do you know what type of ports are available on your computer for connection to a monitor or screen? This would be the first thing that would be needed to know.

By the way, I moved this topic to the PC Technical Help forum where it belongs.

I remembered one more thing:

On some computers, if a person increases the resolution or the screen size, then there might be a substantial decrease in FPS and possibly more stuttering. Some high powered graphics systems seem to handle the larger screens and better resolution.

well all i know is my monitor plugs into a port on the back of my video card. and its a dvi or hdmi or somthing like that. but im using a VGA adapter

and yes i know but my system is pretty high end. espically for il2.

core 2 duo E8400 3.0Ghz
9800 GTX+
2GB of ram

Re: resolution size - Fireskull - 14.07.2010

Great! Your already connected.

Somehow your resolution of your graphics card must be matched with the IL-2 setting. I have never needed to do that, but someone will be able to help you with that.

Re: resolution size - 8FS_austin - 14.07.2010

what do you mean?

note about refresh rate iv noticed my refresh rate is at 60hertz the max is 75, and iv also noticed that my fps in il2 wont go over 60 its usually at 59 to 60 solid

Re: resolution size - Fireskull - 14.07.2010

In the Hardware Setup of the Main Menu of IL-2, click Video Modes and then Video Modes Setup will be available where you choose the resolution in which IL-2 will appear.

Yeah, that's the part that I have never needed to do. I don't know how it's done.
